Also, I think Ariana would be pronounced like 'Ariahna' instead of Arianna, so no need to put that H in the name- that just makes it look misspelled.
    Each to their own.

What about Audrey for a girl?
It sounds a bit similar to Ari and has the traditional elements like Claudia.

Also- are you thining of having a 3rd... and let's say hypothetically- if it was a boy- would you wish that you'd kept the name Ari for him because you felt it was more masculine?

Just thought it was something to think about.
I like the name Ari for a boy. Not to crash hot on Hillary, but it's a personal taste thing.

    Hi

WOW! What a great bunch of feedback - thanks heaps to everyone who replied to my post.

We thought about using a longer name that is shortened to Ari but decided quite a long time ago that we didn't want to do that - if we decided on Ari it would just be Ari. So, if a longer name that is shortened to Ari is NOT an option, does that change anyones opinion of Ari? Does it change anyones opinion of Hillary? We're still undecided but throwing all your comments into the mix has been great and I look forward to more..... not that I expect much from you all eh?!

Thanks again and hope to hear from you all again.

I like austenteaparty's idea of Audrey if it's a girl. (I love the name Audrey) Goes great with Claudia ... I'm not that huge Hillary fan, sorry

Have never heard of the name Ari for a boy .. but it sounds really cool. No, wait ... I have, but we spell it differnt (Arrie) and say it more flat.
Ari for boy or girl ... would sound good, IMO

In the end ... it's your daugther/son, so what ever you feel would work.

Goodluck chosing!! And welcome to BB

    Hi Everyone

Thanks again for all you comments and suggestions - they've been great.

With regard to some peoples suggestion of not using Ari for a girl in case we have a third baby and it's a boy I can safely say (for various reasons) that we won't be needing another name after this baby..... you can count on that! So, if this baby is a girl then Ari is definitely free to use! I think we have almost settled on Ari for a girl or boy and are playing with the idea of spelling it slightly differently to make it a bit more feminine - maybe Aree or Arie - as suggested by TsMummy (thanks for the ideas BTW!)..... but we're still not quite sure.

As the big day is rapidly approaching are there any more final ideas or suggestions? I promise to not ask many more times!!

    Thanks to you all again.

    Name

I'm not a huge fan of Hillary- the Clintons come to mind!!

Ari could work for a boy or girl- although if you had a girl you could always just put Ariane or Arielle on a birth certificate and call her Ari from birth anyway. No-one needs to know except you guys- that way she has the choice to use the longer version on a job application/formal papers in the future should she wish. Nothing wrong with Ari- although I feel it does have a nickname ring to it. I prefer the 'Arie' spelling for a girl.

Since you don't plan on having a 3rd- definitely use Ari no matter what. You obviously love it- it is a unique name and I fear you will regret it if you don't use it!

    Best Wishes!

I agree. Even if a third bub comes along you'll most probably be ready to choose another name by then! So don't let others put you off... sometimes it can be a mistake to ask opinions - I've learnt that lesson the hard way ...

I'm going to stick with adding an H to it tho - my favorite way to spell it would be:

    Ahrie

easy to say, and it looks "girly"...

I can't get past Hillary Clinton to tell you the truth. I just can't see a cute little girl called Hillary. But thats just my opinion and its your baby, you can call it what you want. I wouldn't use Ari for a girl as I'm into pretty and feminine type girls names. Have you considered somthing that sounds similar to Ari?

    Ally
    Audrey
    Airlee or Airleigh or Airley
    Marley

A question for everyone: how do u pronounce Arianna? Ari - arhn - na or Ari - anna?

I have to say that I'm with Dad Again on this point. I'm not a big fan of people wanting/liking a short name then naming their baby a longer name for the "formality" of it... iykwim?

I really don't like Hillary... so I would go with Ari. Maybe you could spell it a bit differently so that when people see it they think "girl"?

    Some ideas:

    Ahree
    Ahrea
    Aree
    Arie
    Ahrie
    Ahry
    Ary

Once again (IF IT WAS ME), I would go for a spelling with either H or Y as it looks more feminine...
this is just my opinion only! I know some will not agree with me on this!

I think you should save Ari for if and when you have a boy - clearly you love the name for a boy and it may be dissapointing if you couldn't use it.

I think the suggestion of Audrey is so lovely and goes perfectly with Claudia. Just to throw a few more girls names into the mix...

    Olivia
    Amelie
    Matilda
    Anna
    Sarah
    Lily
