    Henry?

Hi ladies, what do think of Henry?

We both love it but is it a name our child would like growing up?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I like it. Henry sounds strong and smart. It was also my dad's nickname.

Plus I just thought there are so many important people named Henry. Cant think of any but there are lots.

sorry dont like it. Its much tooooo old for my liking. Sounds nerdy i think. I think if i heard a mother call her kid henry i would have a little chuckle to myself. Im sorry, but im quite honest.

What about Harry? thats abit better
    or Hamish..

Henry is an absolutely gorgoeus name. I have recently heard the names George and Stanley - which i think probably come from the same era. Looking in a name book you may think - too old sounding, but when you meet the children with those names you begin to like the sound of them.
I'd say go for it. There are way more weird sounding names out there

Thank you for your input ladies!

The older the better for us.. We love classic historical names

We find out the gender next week anyway so you never know it may be a girl after all that!
That's where the fun begins as we can't decide on a girls name, everything we liked is now in the top 10 which we DON"T like!

Peanut baby - just re-read my post - I didn't mean that I think that Henry is a weird sounding name. I'd like one of my girls to date a Henry (in about 30 years!!!!!)
I love it when I take my daughter Hannah to my grandmother's nursing home - they love that her name is from their era.

I think it is a really cute name! I'm right into older names at the moment: Henry, Roger, George, they are all good!

I love the name Henry... so much so that it is DS2's name. Additionally, he is a delightful child with a great sense of humour, sensitive to the feeling of others and has a great mind!

    Henry is a great name.
The best thing about it is it is a two for the price of one name. Harry is the English nick-name for Henry (Prince Harry is actually Prince Henry) so you can use either .

JaZa, no that's ok! I honestly didn't take offence. I'm a bit of a nanna really, love old movies etc so I wouldn't expect everyone to like Henry.

Lulu, Elizabeth is our middle name for a girl!! Absolutely love it and would are probably even considering it for a first name depending on the sex Monday. It's my mum's middle name

DrGirl72 - he sounds like he has a nature any parent would be extremely proud of!

I'm glad to hear peoples input, we have kept it a secret and although we think most people would love it there would be a few who said they didn't! That's life!

We have two baby Henrys in our playgroup now (one a younger sibling and another a newbie). One is spelt Henri.
I think it's a darling name for a little boy, and a strong name for a teen/man. A winner! (But I like traditional boy's names too.)
And Henry's older sister's name is Victoria, LOL! We also have another brother and sister who's names are Charles and Lorelei - lots of regal names in our playgroup!

So have you found out the sex yet?

I love old fashioned names.....with just about the only execption being Henry lol. It just sounds way too much like hen (as in chook) to me, but maybe thats cos we have hens so its a word I am saying and hearing a lot.

I love George, Oliver, Joseph, Heath, Miles, Nathaniel, Poppy, Hazel, Ingrid, Lola and Josephine though.
