Emma-lean was what I originally thought when I read your thread title but after reading others replies I can see it as Emma-Line
Emma lean for me! (I think it's absolutely gorgeous!)
I have Imogen and I always get asked how to pronounce it...
I have Finnian and I get the same... I think lots of people have trouble with pronounciations but once it's a childs name you run with it...

I would pronounce it Leen but on Anne of Green Gables there was an Emmeline pronounced Line and I liked that too.
Showing my age here but there was a Hot Chocolate song Emmaline where they pronounced it Emma-lean which is how I thought it would be pronounced.
My friend has a child with this name..
Emme LINE
Oh - It was Anne of Green Gables that I watched recently that had an Emmeline in it!! Thanks Tinks I have been racking my brains alll night!
LOL! I love Anne of Green Gables, and I couldn't quite remember where I had heard the name either, I've liked it a long time...thanks for that! It must have been where I heard it first I think.
Thank you all so much for your input! I'll have to go back and do a count of "line" responses and "leen" responses, though I think DH likes "line" best anyway. I think they're both pretty. You guys are awesome, everyone else IRL is sick of talking about names with me!!!
Innana - DH''s favourite name is Imogen, and I tried to get him to agree to Finn for DS2. They're both awesome names.
Nai - I've been begging all weekend for "Genevieve", but DH won't let me have itYour girls names are very classy
Anyhow...thanks all for your input! I *think* we may have decided on Emmeline...now to find a middle name - it has to start with "M" so the initials are EMM - DH has a funny "thing" about initials...
I'd pronounce it 'Emme-leen', but then to me Madeline is pronounced 'Madde-linn' unless it's spelled 'creatively' to emphasise the long i, kwim? I guess I don't see it as pronounced the traditional english 'long i' because it's a French name, therefore, 'leen', not 'line'But that's just me

Thank you donna, for putting what I was trying to say so eloquently LOL!![]()
I went to school with a Emmeline- she/we pronounced it Emme-LINEits such a pretty name no matter which way you pronounce it.
i'd pronounce it as emma-lyn
I'd say 'leen' but that's because that's how someone I knew pronounced their name.
i'd say Emme ... leen but then that's probaby cause my DD's name ends in ' ine ' and we pronounce it ' een '![]()
Yep me too! I love the name.. It's so prettyI'd pronounce it "Line".
How is it pronounced Inanna? I thought: Fin i ann?? Am I right??I have Finnian and I get the same... I think lots of people have trouble with pronounciations but once it's a childs name you run with it...
