I never knew names would be so hard!

Seriously, how can it be so hard??

The first list that DH and I wrote together I ended up crying over and throwing in the bin! Haha! So we decided to give it a rest for a little while and then come back to it!

Anyway, we have recently found out we are expecting a pink one, so now we are only coming up with one list, much easier!

We are not doing a middle name and our surname starts with M and is very basic.

Lots of the names I loved for girls started with M but we don't want MM.

So, the final few (at the moment and will prob change ) are:

    Evie
    Emerson/Emersyn
    Amelie
    Kensey/Kensie
    Lana
    Laine/Laney

I guess I would just love to hear your thoughts, or suggestions?? Do you think any of these are becoming too common? We would love something not too common but not something that she has to spend her entire life spelling!

    Thanks in advance,

    xox

I really like Evie! ( I was all for it when pg - I love the song, but it's not one to listen to while hormonal and overdue!)

I think Evie is really pretty...haven't heard anyone using any of those names you listed so I definitely don't think they are common. And I must admit - I'm not sure how to pronounce Amelie myself!

I have an Evie here (officially Evelyn). Was not the popular, until the year I used it and suddenly it is top 10 in our area (and I swore never to have a top 10 name). Now DD2 has 2 other Evie's in her room at Childcare, one even has the same initial for their lastname, so very thankful her fullname is Evelyn. I spoke to the one of the other Evie mum and she was like me, thought she was picking an unpopular name.

So as much as I love the name, I would say avoid it if you don't want popular, or at least have it as the nickname.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your replies girls! I really love hearing your opinions and it's very helpful to hear if names are more popular than I thought, or if people aren't sure on pronunciation etc. It's great to be able to hear from you all, especially because we don't want to share our names with anyone in real life plus we are keeping the fact that she's a girl a secret from everyone!

    Any other opinions welcome

    Thank you xox

They are all so pretty, I have an Amelie, so I am biased but it took a while for it to grow on me and now I can't imagine her being anything else. I don't think its hugely common but seems to be becoming more common which I think is good too so its not so tricky for them growing up!

But they all sound beautiful! good luck

Evie, Amelie and Emmerson are all gorgeous names

I do think Evie is fast becoming popular along with other similar names like Gracie etc. Interestingly i would pronounce Amelie like emily but with AM instead and i would pronounce Amali AH MA LEE, LOVEEEEEEEE Amali and DS was going to be Amali had he been pink. I think Amelie is becoming popular (i know of quite a few), but Amali not so much. Emmerson is becoming popular too but still gorgeous.

Oh thanks girls! This is good fun!

We would definitely pronounce Amelie with an AM too xo

I thought that about Kensey too, then my DH, who chose the name, showed me Kensey on NCIS LA. That's where he heard it. And she is super cool! Haha

Thanks again for all of your replies!

So anyone, DH is pretty sold on Evie, and calls the bun that all the time now.

Just wondering if you all think Evie can be enough of a grown ups name too??

    Thanks!
