Bit of a dilemma, plus middle name for Isabella?

    Hi all,

Okay, so this thread is a bit of a double whammy, therefore please bear with me!

DH and I have had a horrid time trying to agree on a shortlist of names for our little girl who is due in January.

He suggested Chloe Elizabeth and we absolutely LOVE it but I have a cousin called Chloe and since my family is quite difficult I thought speaking with them about it would be the right thing to do. Long story short it backfired in my face and I was made to feel quite awful, and if we call bubs Chloe I am certain an all out family war will ensue (especially as she is Chloe Eliza, quite close to Chloe Elizabeth) so no matter how much we love it we're stuck. Its a shame, I cried my eyes out over the whole thing but oh well.

SO we're back to square one and we're really, really stuck.

We quite like Isabella but can't agree on a middle name that would go. I love Isabella Grace but DH hates the name Grace with a passion (as with most names I like). He also insists it has to be a name that can be shortened - I actually am in love with the name Ella but in DH's words "oh that's horrible as a name name, but fine as a nickname". GRRR! He also really, really hates Mae/May (the first name we came up with was Gabriella and I wanted Mae as a middle name and he wouldn't have a bar of it).

So, we need a middle name to go with Isabella.

Failing that, we just need a list of girls names! DH is very concious of her not having a name where she could be teased. We also have a few names that are strictly no go - Amelia, Penelope/Penny, Sophie/Sophia, Emma, Lauren, Chloe, Eva, Isobel, Sarah, Alice (all names of DHs ex gfs or family names and we're trying to steer clear of family names after the Chloe debacle!).

Also, nothing starting with B as our surname is Buckland.

We've tried the whole baby book circling/list idea and it didn't help us! eeek!

That sux about the family... Sorry they made you feel awful
I hate the name game, trying to agree on a name and one that doesn't "steal" someone elses

    What about -
    Isabella Claire
    Isabella Joy
    Isabella Jane
    Isabella Louise
    Isabella Nicole
    Isabella Summer
    Isabella Julie

Good luck with the name game

How about Eliana with Ella for short? Or Elaine? Ariella? Eloise? it would be great if you could find a name you both love, instead of a compromise - but I know that can be hard to do Good luck!

Isabella is one of my favourite girls names.

    I also love Isabella Paige

I acutally love Paige for a first name

Have you thought of Zoe, it is similar to Chloe but different enough that it isn't the same.

chloe is a very common name.... so i dont see the problem with using it... especially if you dont see your cousin/aunt very often? or have a hypinated (sp) name like chloe-jayne so it's a little different

its your bub and your decision.... if you like chloe then go for it!

Ooooh I like it!! I like it a lot and I'll bet DH will too.. Thank you!

I suggested Eliana to DH last night as I loved it when I said it out loud but no go He said "What if she's fat? She'll get called Ellie the Elephant!". Pity, its a beautiful name but I know he won't budge!

Your DH sure is picky, isn't he!! Glad you've come to a decision. Shame the family didn't agree with your first choice, how annoying and upsetting!

Just thought I'd let you know our DD's name, it's Isobel Elsie and we love it. We call her Izzy too though.
