Middle name ,is this really silly?

ok so we have a first name and a last name lol

we want a middle name that means something to us, and we want it to represent our Nan's who have passed

'Betty' and 'Barbara ' for the life of us we cant work out how to combine these names to make a middle name

we have started saying mayb just using 'bei' or bea'

so it would be just like a letter for the middle name

is this silly? can anyone think of any other suggestions ?

I think it is lovely idea! FWIW my DH's family has named people after someone by just using the first letter of the name.

My DD1's middle name is 'Kaye'. My mum is Kim and DH's mums name is Keryn,
we couldn't combine these either so we just stuck with the K, 'Kaye'.

I think 'Bea' is lovely .

Nina's middle name is Mae, and we got that from MIL's middle name which is Valmae. So kinda the same thing, in a way.

... i agree with JwithJ, " Bea " does look better

Also i can't see how Bei has anything to do with the name Barbara there other than the ' B' !!

How about the first 3 letters of Betty (Bet) and the last 3 letters of Barbara (ara) ... put them together and you get BETARA ... it think that sounds pretty

I prefer Bea to Bei (Betara is also ok) - and don't think is silly idea at all - is a middle name and is nice for it to have a meaning.

My DD middle name is Jay because we wanted CJ as initial and couldn't come up with a J that we liked, so DH said why not Jay like Homer Simpson - and I thought why not.

I tried to find out if Betara might actually be a name ... and i'm not 100% sure but from my very few findings it is a name (i think arabic) and is a male name whereas Betari is female ... anyway like i said i might be wrong !! ... I still think Betara might be nice & more so cause it has an equal share of both Betty & Barbara as combined names

Though you might prefer a short name like Bea !!!

Our DD has two middle names as we also wanted both our mums names. No rule to say you can only have one name!

i love the idea of using Bea, its gorgeous, and has such a wonderful meaning to you.. I think i might even steal the idea of using a letter name as a middle name!
    All the best!

I like Bea. I think it's sweet & it is nice to have a special meaning. Can I ask what her first name will be? That might help you decide.
