Well you could just start calling Jess "Puss" or "Fluffy" and hope that everyone forgets by the time your daughter is born! LOL
My cat is named Jessie and I would love to name my baby Jessica one day, which we would shorten to Jess. We also call the cat Jess for short.
Is this ok, or totally nutty?
Has anyone else named their bub the same as their pet, because they were silly like me and gave their pet their fave name?

If you like it you may as well go for it.
If people ask just tell them you were using the cat as a test subject so you were sure that you would still like the name after using it for a few years.
FWIW you're not the first person to ask this question![]()
I had a foster puppy a few years ago that I named Jaxom. I really loved the name Jaxom but thought DH would never go for it as a name for a baby. Turns out that DH actually suggested it while we were still pregnant, lol! I was the one that told him that we couldn't use it because people would think we named him after the pup we fostered.
But I think your situation is a bit different. Technically they are different names you are using. Plus they are not quite as unique as something like Jaxom, so many people might not even make the connection with your cat.
I think that if you love the name, then go for it sweetie!![]()
Thanks girls, wow, 3 votes for yes!
Great to hear other people's opinions, because a few people I know said no way!
My Mum did it around the other way around ... cause she had 3 DD's and not any son's she named all her pets thereon after boy's names that she just absolutely loved, eg Micheal, Tristan were dogs![]()
This is funny, I have several pets names which I like as baby names,
Jesse, Harry, Charlie, Max, Felix and Lola.
I'm pretty sure one of these is going to be the actual name we choose.
So I'd say go for it![]()
Charlie was our Blue healer! I think I've always seen as a boys name, but maybe if it was short for something![]()
The name we are leaning towards is the name of my sister in law's dog. BUT The dog is female and has the feminine spelling, we are having a boy. Just to confuse you, don't want to give it away!
i know what you mean, i had a cat i named Oskar and i love him and the name so much.
it was always the name i had chosen for a boy but thought kids were a long way off. turns out they werent lol.
also Oskar died, is that bad luck to name your child after a pet that has died?
