We were considering going with Anakie for Mehkelti.... too many people thought of the star wars connection ... but there is a chance we might use it for the next one
Arianna is a beautiful name and one we played with but DH didn't like it. Ari is an awesome nickname BTW :-)
Also as some of the other posters said, you don't have to be soild on a name right now. My DH threw in a name from left field on the night before we were induced???? Consequently Ariya didn't have a name for nearly 2-3days (much to the annoyance of our parents nad family)
Just thought I'd jump in here when I came across this thread.
DD was born in september and we called her Anica. I chose the spelling because that's how my aunt's name was spelt and it was nice to have a reference to someone in our family, especially one who has passed on.
We do pronounce it phoenetically, and yes we've already got a stirrer of a friend who calls her Anikan Skywalker. But it is done in a friendly spirit.
We get so many compliments on her name and though it really should only be important that we like the name, it is lovely to hear them.
DD didnt like it (there is a bossy Nikita at school) but she came round.

DH is not willing to budge on Krysta/Krystania. I think we will just keep this list handy and decide when she pops out. I am really really leaning toward Nikita though
It's good your open to any possibility. We had a list of names and DS ended up with one had not even thought about while we were pregnant.
But consider that any name that has an unfamiliar spelling might be a problem for your child later in life. My full name is Jeanette which most people pronounce (Jen-et). My family are French and say it a completely different way. Like wise with my maiden name Conje which most people pronounce Con-gee. My married name is Macpherson which is forever being spelt Mcpherson, McPherson and once by a work mate McFiston. A life time of having to spell your name, no matter how beautiful can grate after a while. That is why I call myself Jen and when I am teaching kids and workmate call me MRS M. I don't have to spell those. Please don't take this as a personal attack what ever name you give your baby will be one you and your partner have spent a lot of time considering, but if your feeling frustrated now by incorrect pronunciation/spelling chances are your child will too down the road.

my dad wanted to call me Tonja which went quite well with my middle name of Leokadia (which is a variation of my grandmother's name Leoka) and my surname of Wieziolkowska (or Wieziolkowski for Dad in the masculine form)
Just wanted to add one to the list... one name we like is "Breagha" (pronounced "Bree-ah") - means "beautiful" in Scottish Gaelic ... just something a bit different!
