WDYT - of these initials? Any other suggestions welcome!

Hi everyone!

We're expecting bubba no.2 and only have 10 weeks left but we can't decide on a middle name for her!

We have pretty much chosen the first name of Phoebe, after hubby's great grandmother who passed away when we fell pregnant with our first child but finding a middle name to suit it is getting hard!

We first thought of Phoebe Michelle T******** but it dawned on me that the initials are then PMT (Pre Menstrual Tension). I'm wary of it because I don't want it to attract teasing in highschool. There are plenty of "M" names I love too so I would love to know what are your thoughts on these initials? Am I just being silly?

Would love to hear suggestions for other middle names that flow nicely with Phoebe? TIA!

Most people these days refer to PMS, not PMT, I've noticed. Plus when she gets married her name will change anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, who would dare anger a woman with PMT? Seriously not something you'd want to do.

Not among my mates. Anyway, their birth name will be with them for 20 years plus, including through their school years, which is where it is most likely to have impact.

I wouldn't do it - middle names aren't commonly used but at school kids do find out these things and the initials will be there at high school when these things are likely to be discussed, the initials do have negative connotations especially for a girl and full names are often used on certificates like degrees (where this will be for the rest of her life). Most professional women I know don't change their name (even if they do get married) especially if they have used their birth name to build their career. The initials PMS are more commonly used now but then people still know that VD is old term for STD so it does take a long time for old nomenclature to go out of public consciousness. I think you can find a name that you like without the issue of the initials - But that's just my opinion.

Mmmmmmm im funny on initials too and if i find a middle name i absolutely love and it goes so well but the initials are not the best, i add a second middle name. For example we have a Serenitee and i loveddddd Annaliese with it (Serenitee Annaliese) but with our surname being "D" her initials would have been S.A.D, so we called her Serenitee Annaliese Zayvia and her initials changed to SAZD, yes its a mouthful but i think it flows nicely. So you could do that .

I look at initials but didn't even think about DS being Thomas Lincoln C*^%#£. Can you imagine the pick up line at the pub ' hey babe you look like you need some TLC' dear god what have I created lol.

No way would I do PMT. but I like kristi's idea.

I read this recently and thought it was interesting. Thought I'd post it here because it sort of relates to your dilemma...

A recent study was conducted that determines how your initials may affect your life.

People with "positive" initials that spell out things like J.O.Y. or W.O.W. live nearly 4 1/2 years longer than people with neutral initials. Other initials that may pro-long life are V.I.P and H.I.P.
Psychologists Leif Nelson and Joseph Simmons conducted their research through baseball records, grade point averages and law school admissions.

They found that in baseball players with the first or last name beginning with the letter K where more likely to strike out in a game. Ironically strikeouts are recorded with the letter k.

Students who’s names begin with A or B had higher GPAs. This resembles the academic grading scale.

It appears that there may be a psychological association with how we go through life and our names. So to attain success associate your initials with something positive!

So giving my son the same first name initial as his last name actually does increase his chances of getting superpowers in a lab accident? Go Stan Lee for pointing that one out. So thrilled now.

However, that report on the study needs grammar checking and educating about what irony actually is.

Why don't you go with Phoebe yvette so she could be a PYT (pretty young thing) and Thomas could pick her up singing the Michael Jackson song saying that she looks like she needs some TLC. Sorry, getting way ahead of myself there
