I do like Eliza and Alanah... And they both sound quite good with Marguerite and our surname. Think I might add them to the maybe list and see how they feel in a week or two's time.

I do still love Ruby though! And I must admit all the supporters here have warmed me up on it again. It was a name we had picked out when I was preggers with DS, so maybe I was just a bit tired of it . I know nobody would comment on both kids ending in an 'ee' sound, just not sure if it sounds great when you say 'my kids are Ashley and Ruby'. Mind you I call him Ash most of the time so would probably just say 'my kids are Ash and Ruby'.

i like ruby & i think it would really suit with your surname. i don't mind lola but don't like it as much as ruby, eliza or alannah.

fwiw, we're agonising over another name that not only ends in a 'ee' sound but starts with the same sound as DS' name. i love it but it's when i think of myself calling the two of them that i start to worry!

yes! although we do struggle with boys names the best advice i had was - make sure it's a name you don't mind hearing yourself say over & over again

You have very good taste! I have an Alannah and of course as I said I love love love Eliza but didn't want to couple it with Alannah.
On the 'ee' thing, me, my brother and my sister all end in y so all have the 'ee' sound (and all have 2 syllable names ) and I don't think any one has ever commented about it. Mum and Dad weren't particularly aware of it at the time, they said it just kind of happened that way.
