Possible names for our second baby..what do you think?

Picking names for the second baby sure is a tough gig! This is our shortlist so far, what do you girls think? I'm open to suggestions along these lines too.

    Girls:
    Audrey
    Ashlyn
    Middle name: Samara

    Boys:
    Ethan
    Jacob
Middle name: Isaac or Jacob if we use Ethan for a first name

    - I love Audrey but DH isn't sold on it just yet. He's worried it's too old fashioned. I agree, it is old fashioned but love that it's not overly popular yet. DD's name is a popular girls name but an old fashioned name so they would go together well.
    - Ashlyn is adorable and ASH is DH's initials so that's a nice link to him. My only issue is SIL is Ashleigh. Is it just too similar?
    - Samara was one of my best friends during my teenage years. She was killed in a car accident the day before my 18th birthday. I'd love to honour her if we have another girl.
    - We both really like Jacob and it's a family name on both sides but as I'd said in a previous name thread, 'J' names scare me a bit. LOL!
    - Ethan is really funky and cute. We like to shorten names though and I'm not sure how we'd do that. Just 'Eth'? Hmmm

So what do you girls think?

    I like Jacob Isaac.

Audrey is lovely. Also Audra, but that would be rhyme-y with Samara.

Jacob was on my boys list until a friend named her boy Jacob.

Audrey is lovely (I'm a big Audrey Hepburn fan). I like Ashlyn too. I guess it depends on your relationship with SIL - it might be a nice family connection. But I still vote for Audrey.

I should have said our last name starts with H and is quite unusual but it sounds great with all four names

I like Audrey much more than Ashlyn. Samara as a first name...? It's nice and she could be Sam.
I reckon Ethan could be E. Prefer it to Jacob, but both good names.

    (Good catch Onyx )

Love Audrey. I wanted for DD1 but DH said to old fashioned. I tried again when we found out 2nd baby was a girl but DH said no again. If we have a 3rd and it is a girl I will work on him again to use it .

    I love Ethan too.

Onyx - Oh big dumb preggy brain moment for me!! I've been trying to work out for ages what you were getting at with not using the A names if our surname started with S. Just said it out loud to DH and FINALLY the penny dropped! Nice spot but thankfully not an issue!

Nickers - another lightbulb moment for me after reading your post! Yes, both girls names would be the same as DHs initials!! That's fab and I didn't even realise!

    Boy I'm daft tonight

MadB - we had considered Samara as a first name but I'm not sure if it would make me sad or happy, IYKWIM. We were super close and it took me a long time to get passed her death. I would be a bit worried I'd be cursing our DD (if this baby is a girl that is) but at the same time, Sam was a gorgeous girl with a wicked personality so it could be a real blessing for our daughter. It's a tough one, I'm just not sure.

Thanks for your feedback girls. It's going to be a tough pick!

LOVE the name Audrey Samara. Audrey is such a classic elegant name IMO.

Boys I'm a big fan of Jacob. It's on my list too (not that I'm preg!) Ethan, I'm not a fan of as the next door neighbour at my mums had an Ethan and she was CONSTANTLY yelling at him!

Ashlyn is a lovely girls name. I like the Irish spelling (Aisling), but your way would make it easier for most people to pronounce.

Do you like Jake, as a short form of Jacob? Because my guess is that's what he'd get once he's a bit older. If you like it, then go for it, otherwise, might be a consideration. I think both names are nice.

I had a mummy friend who named her DD Audrey (she's my DD's age). So it's not completely unused! I think it's pretty. Not much help, am I?!

I like both your girls choices. I prefer Ashlyn but if it was me, I would probably skip that one based on the similarity to your SIL. I like Audrey too.

Of the boys, I think Ethan Isaac flows really well. I really like Ethan for a boy.
