Lol- yes, without the letter 'u' next to it, Q sounds exactly like K. It's a fault in the English language- the Q is kinda made redundant without the u next to it to make the 'Qwe' sound.
Although I know it may look unusual to us, Q names (without the letter u) are common in Arabic countries and originate from the Hebrew language.

I'm glad to read of some Chiara's who don't get Ch pronounced like the 'ch' in chew. I showed the name Chiara to my Mum, and she pronounced it this way which totally put me off it.
I also thought most people were familiar with Qi being pronounced as Key, but perhaps I was wrong!!
I still really like Chiara, but DH likes the Q (he's a quirky one) so the jury is not out on this one I'm afraid......
