I agree Nelle Even though a name is unusual imagine if it was YOUR name, or that of your child and everyone was passing judgement. I have an usual name... and my children have "lesser used" names too. I find that often even the most unusual names end up suiting the person. As a teachers assistant I have come across lots of unusual names but after a few days I didn't think anything of it. For example there was a little girl called Sixteen.... after about 2 minutes of adjusting i thought it was beautiful and perfect ETA: when I was born my mother had to deal with a lot of doubtful relatives regarding my name too... not nice to hear when you are a child. I think it really set me up to be the black sheep of the family hearing the negativity But now I like that it's a bit different.
