just wanted to let you know, not that it probably makes any difference, but i don't think that kelly is kelly slater's real name.
dh reckons his name is actually robert and that kelly started as a nickname?
idk? but just thought i'd put it out there.
i like the name though, always have.

Your DH is right Rainforest... His middle name is actually Kelly. I did a bit of research and it seems that Kelly was a popular boys name (and started out as a boys name first of all) in the 60's and 70's..... 1860's and 70's!! LOL!! Actually it came back into populartity in the 1970's as well.. But what the hey.. I am gonna go with Kimbaz theory.. "If you like it.. Use it!!". Hopefully he will love his name and as LoriRae said it helps build character!!

Thanks again to all of you!!

I think it's a great name for a boy. It's masculine enough so that he won't be teased.
    Go for it.

One of my boss's best mates was a Kelly.

I say use it. People are going to ask you if its a boy or girl anyway - even if they are wearing a very boyish looking outfit -you'll still get - oh what a cute girl

I've never let anyone change my opinion if I love a name - well except for a kiwi friend that i had at work - Aricyn was going to be Reznor - but with her kiwi accent - it sounded soooo wrong.. lol.. like.. rissna... it put me right off...
