What do you think of Thomas?

Hello First time poster here.I am 20 weeks with my 5th child at present & we found out we are having a boy We had girls names picked already but are really struggling with boys names. My other sons are Jesse & William.Even though both are quite popular now ,especially William it would seem, they wern't when i chose them so i don't really want top 10 names.
My DH suggested Xavier which i don't mind but i don't love it & it seems to be getting very popular also.Names that i have suggested to my DH are -Sebastion,Adam,Brendan,Tristan,Alistair but he vetoed all of those. We can't use -Alexander,Benjamin,Timothy,Justin,Steven or anything really short as our last name is short & also starts with H so H names are out too.
Anyway the only name that i have come up with so far that we both don't mind is Thomas. The only reason i thought of it is because it's my great grand fathers name & i thought my Pop would be pleased if we used it.
So what do you think? Does it go with my other son's names? Is it too plain ,too popular? I keep saying it to myself as well as tommy as a nickname & i'm not sure .Any opinions and/ or other suggestions would be most appreciated.I don't mind names that are a little bit unusual but nothing too different .I've gone through a lot of lists & nothing is jumping out at me.I seem to be very picky TIA

I like Thomas my only reservation is that I totally dislike Tom or Tommy! it does sound nice with your boys names. Jesse is a little 'newer' but William is very classic sounding and I think Thomas rings well.
(am on tapatalk so can't see other names you said were vetoed) how about Alexander, Edward, Nathaniel?

Thanks everyone i really do appreciate your opinions
My DH actually suggested Jacob/Jake because he had a much loved dog called Jake,i said no we can't name our son after your dog! lol.
Edward is out too as 1 of our current dogs is Eddie.Mitchell is my maiden name & my 2 eldest children use it so that's out too.Tobias is another name i suggested as well as Cameron & Nathaniel/Nathan(sorry didn't remember them before) & hubby said yuk to all of them.Matthew ,Nicholas & Lucas i don't really love ,no offence to anyone.Tyler i think of roof & Spencer i think of Frank from 'some mothers do have em',sorry again no offence it's just what i automatically think of.I know ,i know i'm a picky ,difficult cow but thanks again for your suggestions & opinions.

That's a bit harsh, calling yourself that. We're all picky when it comes to names and we all have reasons for and against.

I love Thomas. Very good choice.

What about Lewis, Jonathan or Samuel.

    .
ROFL I was going to say the same thing.

OK here are some others - Wade, Christian, Tristen, Seth, Austen, Ethan, Jackson, Elijah, Ethan, Zander, Oliver :-)

Maybe its worth investing in a baby name book? even a second hand one off ebay??

I think Thomas is a great name however only if YOU love it. From your post it seems like you are only considering it to please a family member. Whilst that is a nice thing to do make sure you love it too or you may find you regret the decision later. Just my opinion though

Oh and if you don't like Xavier because it's becoming more popular do you like the alternative Zavier? A friend used that name and I love it

Oh my Pop doesn't even know about me considering Thomas. I have used a lot of family names with my kids already because i like to honour/remember them & so far my Pop has missed out & like i said originally i don't mind Thomas & my DH actually said he would consider it as he didn't mind it either(which is a rare occurance lol) I definitely wouldn't use it just to please someone else .
I didn't really think i needed to buy a baby name book when there are so many online lists .I have looked at quite a few already
There are some good names here ,i will run some of them by my husband & see what he says. Thanks everyone

I love it. I think it goes really well with your other boys names. It's great that it has special meaning too.

Xander is similar to Xavier but not as popular.

Thankyou Rowellan I think i am definitely liking it more & more ,the positive comments here have helped a lot.I love Xander & Alexander & i would have used that for sure but we both have a cousin each called Alexander & DH's cousin has always been called Xander :/ I love the idea of the french version,To-ma that one of you ladies mentioned but i think it wouldn't work well with the every day aussie accent .We considered Angelle(prounounced in a very soft french accent ) for a girl but i knew it would be ruined by ppl not pronouncing it properly so we dropped it.My 2nd daughter's name is Genavieve Noelle(but spelt the french way of Noel) so another french name would have fitted ok i think.
