    ETA: There is an american website where you can search for the most popular names by decade going back to about 1890. Google search "top 1000 baby names". It is a USA govt website.

    My nanna was Bernice Marie, but she hated Bernice so was always called Marie (pronounced MAH ree)
    My grandma was Lorraine, always called Lorrie

    i would use Evelyn (or Eve/Evie) in a girls name, but not Nola - i did tell DH i wanted to use Noel for a boy though

    Mine are also Evelyn (born 1932),
    And Erica (also born early 1930's)

    My step-grandmother is Pauline.

    Other names in my family (great-aunts, etc) are Mabel, Althea and Betty.

    DH's grandmother is Nancy.

    My personal favourite oldie name is Audrey.

    Mine were Winifred (Winnie) and Ruth - I always loved Ruthie as a girls name, but DH didn't really like it. His grandmother's names were Eunice and Mary. My Nan's sisters were Anges (Aggie - loved that as a name) and Dorothy (Dotty).
