I think there's a site called Baby Names Wizard (or something) and it gives you some of the more popular names from certain years. It's a pretty good resource.

I think go with names you like! I am a fan of older names too, but then as Audax says, most names have been made up at some stage!

It's funny how we see names differently too - I don't see 'Apple' as a particularly modern name. I mean...apples have been around for some time now.

I love them. I also like names that are "real" names but are not commonly used. On your list though, Jasper is becoming quite popular. Made it into the top 100 last year. I know a Tabitha and I think it's the most fantastic name.

I love old fashioned names too especially for girls. Most of them have already been mentioned but I also like Lydia, Eloise, Rosella, Rosalie, Estella, Hazel, Bethany, Genevieve, Letitia, Mabel (although I prefer the spelling Maybelle). For boys Reuben, Julian, Samson, Theodore.

From your list I like Salome (I haven't heard of the references mentioned by a PP) Tabitha (I love Bewitched & so I liked the name ever since I watched it as a kid), Delilah, Darla, Deirdre.

I love Dorian (It was on my list for DS, but it was Dorien)
I love Evangeline. It's a character in a podcast I listen to, but I think it might be coming back in vogue.

My primary school best friend was Tabitha.

I work in a nursing home, and there are some lovely names (and people!) that I really like, but could never use them because it'd remind me of them.

There was a site I used and you type in names you like and it suggests names based of those ones .. it was nymbler.com ..
