Maybe because deep down (and this is NOT selfish at all) YOU want to be the one who spreads her name around........ I don't have babies, but I totally get it!
Ok, so its in my sig here, and i told my bb group her name, if asked on fb i will tell her name, but i dont say her name in my fb status i always say baby, but i have a friend that always says it, when she texts me, when she replies to me on fb, she always calls baby by her name.
I dont know why it bothers me so much, i love her name, but i just dont want my friend saying it all the time, never has this happened with the other kids, no one has ever done it before constantly using the name, so its new and it erks me.
Hubby thinks i should say her name more when i text and on fb, but im saving it for when she is born, i want it to still be fresh, i dont want it over used and feel stale, even today my fb status was that i forgot to eat lunch, and she says im starving *name*
Thing is also its not that easy to say to her to stop saying it, they day i told her its a girl she started using it, i respect my friendship so im putting up with it, but i dont know why i feel this way??
am i being silly?

I never, ever announced a definate name. No matter how sure I was.
DD1 & DD2 were named before they were born, but we always said we were 'thinking' of this name.
DS was between 3 names & DD3 had no name til the next morning, & it was a completely different one to the only other one we both liked!
Maybe tell her you're having second thoughts about it??
yeah Kimmi, thats definatly part of it!! thanks, i want to be the one saying her name, i like seeing it here in my sig, i smile every time i see it, but when she says it on fb and texts me it just bothers me!
clover- i thought of that, but then ill get the whole what r u decing on now thing, i dont mind telling people her name, i just want to be the one to do it, to put it out there
here I am being a thread hog, but this topic really has be thinking...... I KNOW your friend isn't being malicious at all, but maybe even say to her, "can you stop publicly saying her name because I'm really excited and look forward to announcing her birth!"
thread hog away hun
she not the easiest person to say that too, other wise i would have already, i thought she might have gotten the hint that when i text her back i say baby, or delete fb status
i wish it didnt bother me, like i said earlier no one has done it before, but its every time, its like its taking the joy out of it, i know it sounds silly
give me her email address and I'll tel her!I'll just say I'm a friend of yours on FB and I think it's pushy hehehehehehehehe j/k
aww thanks
...I think it is nice she is acknowledging the baby has a name...
If you are happy to tell it to people, and put it out there, then of course people will call the baby by her name - because they are your friends, you have told them she has a name and that is generally what you call people by, their name...
I think if you don't want the name used, you need to stop telling people what it is, and tell her exactly how you feel. It is going to probably make her feel terribly embarrassed or silly, but you need to be honest with her and ask her to stop using it and you will have to explain why.
My stepfather did this before dd was born. We hadn't even decided for sure just told the fam our shortlist but he knew that Piper was my favourite and kept referring to her as that. For some reason it infuriated me and I nearly didn't call her that because it made me so mad so I can understand the feeling.
just lost my reply
i do agree with u Lime, but its only her that says it over and over again, no one else, and i dont mind once or twice, but its all the time, i love telling people what we are going to call her
Hubby says maybe it bothers me cause its her doing it, if it was someone else it probably wouldnt bother me so much
can i blame it on hormones that i feel this silly?
YES my dear, hormones are the prefect excuse!
When we found out what we were having with DD Everyone get using her name and it bugged me so much and I don't even know why.. I did start asking people to call her Liver and that is what our youngest started calling my belly when we told him the baby's name was going to be Olivia..
but I think just say it outright. or pretend you have changed your mind and you think you are going with another name/
No you arnt bieng unresonable at all when I was having my 1st DD I didnt find out the sex but ran the name past my family as it was my sisters that died my Nana then started calling her that even though we didnt know she was a girl it was upsetting
We have a similar situation here. We don't know if baby is a boy or girl, but my mum is adamant that it's a girl and calls it "her" or "she" and comes up with some terrible names and calls it that. She rang me 2 days ago and referred to it as a girl. When I got off the phone to her, I almost rang DH in tears. I'm just so over it. I've told her to stop doing it, and honestly, when she does it when I'm with her, the look on my face when she says something like that really should deter anyone. Even my MIL has said something!
I'd really like a girl, but I can imagine the bragging. Even more so if it's a girl, born on my mums birthday.
I feel your pain. Can you put her straight? (your friend, not my mum) Maybe thank her for using her name, but not to do it in a public arena as you'd still like to make the announcement yourself, and want everyone to be pleasantly surprised?
after a restless sleep last night thanks to the lightning, im wondering if it botheres me cause lately she has been bothering me, cause it is only her that does it
i need to get over it i know
I think that might be more the problem. Sounds more like you are just bothered by her in general.
