Well maybe. But mostly because it's french, but sounds like something from a fantasy novel when screaming it out

I think that lots of kids growing up now will know how to say the name and what it is. My kids all watch the show so it won't be that strange to his peers ...
Well thats true. And it is based on books from like years ago, so really older people should know too... just us 20's and 30 year olds that have no clue.. bahahaha

Oh- I'm pretty sure I worked it out and I wouldn't hesitate. I think it'll be more easily recognised than you think.

Ahhhhh....just figured it out....yep go for it......DD loves the show too , she's got the pronunciation down pat so I'm sure other people will get the hang of it. The first time she told me off for saying it wrong then told me the right way!

Personally I prefer the sound of Azarias, but I quite like the sound of the other name too. I'm not a fan of the spelling though. I know of a little boy with a similar name and I like the look of the way his name is spelt better. If you like I could pm it to you so I don't make the other name too obvious (although I think a lot of people have already guessed correctly ).

From someone with a name constantly spelt and pronounced differently, it's frustrating but as a parent I wouldn't let that stop me from using a name like that. It's not THAT frustrating really, except when I'm spelling it and people STILL spell it wrong AS I'm spelling it... but thats another thread! I think I know the name, and I like it. Pingu is a great name

    I say go for it!

I have a niece and her name is Aoife (eefa)..her Mum is Irish and sticks with Irish names for her kids.
Not a single person can pronounce it correctly when they see it wrritten down and she gets called up at Dr's office's by Baby ......
It it such a beautiful name and when they go back to Ireland, every second girl is called Aoife, it's one of the top 10 names in Ireland.

Stick to your guns and gut instinct it's worth it in the end. It is a great name

Dammit why couldn't you have posted that earlier? I just spent ages googling ABC2 and downloading a french pronunciation for it hahaha

I LOVE the spelling but yea, as I said, had to google how to pronounce it, I have never see the show... The spelling looks great! Not being all up there with the French language at all myself, if I came across it I would probably call the poor bubba "Kayloo"

Love the name though! Bah what's it matter if you have to pronounce your name these days?? I have to do it all the time (I am an Ah-lee-see-ah not an Ah-lee-sha) and just makes me feel special for being different hahaha yea it can be a PITA but seriously, no biggie in the entire scheme of things??

    I like it!

What about Kiyu? Or Caiyu? Doesn't look as nice as Calliou though....

They do have those lists over there of the most popular names. Definitely give it a google...

    Would you do it?

If I really loved the name I'd do it, but then again the fact the name would have to be pronounced and spelled out would kinda make me not like it as much kwim?

As for Caillou I do like it but you're right Mel, it is hard to come up with an alt spelling. Other variations just don't look right....

    Would you do it?

I really like it and if saw it would know how to say it because of the show. I sometimes have second thoughts over DD name (Cerys) because so many people don't know how to say it but the second thoughts are really because I just never thought about that aspect, is more common in uk than here because of proximity to Wales so it just never occurred to me. It suits her so well I just wish had made an informed decision, so as you have thought about it and is such a nice name definitely go with it.
