My husband has a swedish heritage, so I looked at swedish names while pregnant wih DD. I saw 'Annika', but played around with pronounciation, and preferred 'Anika'. We considered family names for a middle name but I was worried that someone may have felt left out, so we came up with a middle name that we liked and that flowed well with DD first name.
We called DS Jeremy, because we love the name Jem. I wanted him to have the option of "Jeremy' in case he ever thought that 'Jem' was too childish or feminine. He gets called Jem most of the time, and at 2 years old, it really suits him! We loved the name Oran and considered it for his first name. We didn't use a family name because we hadn't the first time around. Did consider 'james' for a middle name (my FIL name, my Dad's middle name and my DH middle name) but I didn't like the sound of Jeremy James. Since then, James has been used by my BIL for his son, so we won't ever be using it.
I am considering Scottish and Irish names (my heritage) for our third bub. And since we haven't named the other two after anyone, it is unlikely that we will do it this time.
