I second the ergo! I can still easily back carry my almost 3 yo DS1 and I love it to front carry my DS2. It also has a hip carry, but I haven't figured it out ye!

DD is 18mos and I'vve recently purchased a walkabout ring sling. DD and I love it! I use hip carry, I think it would be easier to use if I didn't have a 35w tummy in the way.

Love the Ergo here too, I very easily wear my 27 month old DS in it either on my front or back

I have a couple that I love. One for front and back carries is my Baby Hak O-snap. It's longer in the body than an ergo but same sort of wearing/adjustment. I carried a 4yo around Ayers Rock and the Olgas. It's very comfy.
I also have a ring sling (a Sakura Bloom) whick is fab for quick side carries. Can carry my 3yo still quite easily.
