Any SSC like an ergo. Manducca are supposed to be good. I love my pikkolo. The hug a bub was great when my babies were small but as you carry the whole weight in your shoulders it's not so comfy for a big baby and I wouldn't put my toddler in it. My ergo/pikkolo/SSC's however carry my 4, 3 and almost 1 year old regularly. :-) there is a baby wearing group on Facebook where they sell lots of second hand carriers. Often there are good bargains. Baby wearing buy swap and sell I think it's called.

I still carry my 3 year old in his Ellaroo ring sling. Love it to bits!

For my toddler I have a Boba2G which is fabulous for a more structured carrier. Or I just use a wrap if it is for a shorter timeframe (but it defpends if you like wrapping or not). Or I have an obimama Mei Tai, which is my absolute favourite for carrying my 2.5yr old. SSSooooo comfortable and if I need to I can also wrap the baby in the wrap straps and carry both at once. A Mei tai with wrap straps is a nice happy medium between wrapping and a full buckle carrier. But it really does come down to what you prefer in a carrier.

Definitely recommend checking out the BWBSS (Baby Wearing Buy Swap Sell group on facebook); but just be warned, it opens up a whole new world, and can be very addictive once you discover all the options available.

BWBSS being addictive = understatement of the century! Can also recommend asking if there is a local babywearing group near you, as often you can try out a few different options before buying your own. We have put 20kg almost 4 year old in a mei tai very comfortably, and you can even tandem with them if you're keen

Thanks for all your great suggestions girls! Will do some researching when the kiddies are in bed. And thanks for the buy/swap suggestion - I am already bad enough with the MCN pages so this could be another dangerous thing to happen to my bank account
