I hate my Close Carrier :(

ok so iv had Hannah is the close for the last two days

easy enough to put on..I find she leans to the side that the strap supports her head.is this ok?
when i take her out under her legs are a bit red,is this normal?

I find she loves it,falls straight to sleep, she will fuss and cry only is she is hungry or had enough Or when i first out her in it sometimes she fusses and tries to find the boob think she can smell the milk but i just get up bounce around and sway a bit and she goes to sleep

how long can u carry your bub around in it for? is it bad to do it for to long? or to much during the day

What about a wrap style sling like a Tyion Sling? They are one size fits all with no rings to adjust, just fabric to wrap to your exact size?

If it's of any consolation, I don't like my Ergo which I'm bummed about since everyone raves about them. It's too big for me, I'm small too and I can't get it to fit right. I loved my Tyion sling though, have lent it to my neighbour who has just had a baby otherwise I would offer for you to come over & try it, seeing as you're in Perth too.

It does sound like you have the cross up too high misty - it needs to be right in the centre of your back.

You might find that your little one would prefer something with a panel - like a mei tai, that they can't lean backward out of (I have this problem sometimes when wearing Laa in a wrap, she likes to trip out at the clouds).

I had also had DS in mine a few times now and so far so good... One big gripe though for me is the length of the straps! They are seriously almost to me ankles and I am thinking i am going to have to get them altered..

Firstly I am going to ask how old and big is your bub?

I found for us, it KILLED my back once Ash was older, once he was about 8 or 9kg I could NOT wear him in it. The fabric is stretchy, and stretchy fabric isn't the best for older/heavier bubs.

I would go a mei tai. They are great from birth to toddlers. We loved all the MT's we had, favourite was the babyhawk.

I have a close carrier again for bubs, going to be great for this one cos it's from birth and it will be Winter... but once he is older I will sell to get another mei tai

kitt3n - I tighten the straps so much that the cross is quite high up my back.. but what else can I do? The rings are just under my boobs!! (I'm sure they're meant to be at hips, but there's no other way to tighten this thing!!!)

missymoo- DD is 16 weeks and almost 6kg.

I even made my own Moby Wrap and have the same issues... it just kills my left shoulder.

DD tends to slouch to my left shoulder, and often her right leg (closest to my left shoulder) is a bit higher up than her right, however even when she is straight, it still hurts.

I have excellent posture (but my neck is out a bit, making my head angle a tiny bit t the left)

Any ideas??

Also, what shell asked, is it OK for DD's legs to be a little red afterwards, and are we meant to use the sling for long periods of time?

Misty - can you take some pics? PM me if you want my email addy, it sounds like it's being put on in an incorrect way. You need to

- First put it over your head, ensuring the x is in the centre of your back. The rings should be sitting on your hips.

- Pick up bub and open up the front - put one leg in, spread the material out over bub's bum, follwed by the other. Baby should be sitting belly to belly.

- Holding one hand under bub's bum, gently pull the strap to tighten around baby. Ensure that you are pulling the material from the front of the carrier, NOT tightening it so that the cross on your back pulls up.

- Repeat for other side
