You can breastfeed in the ERGO too. I didn't use it for a newborn so I am not sure how that would be but we did from 4 months and feeding was fine. There is a modesty hood too!!
I have both and use them for different reasons on different occasions. Otherwise - what Suse said
I loved my Ergo for DS. We used it with the infant insert with him since he was 4 days old. He LOVED it. All snuggled in and comfortable. You basically lie the insert down, pop bubs on it, pick it up in a cradle hold position and pop it in the carrier. I can do it alone, and can put it on anywhere. And the best thing with it, if they fall asleep in the insert, it is so easy to take them out without disturbing, and pop them off to bed. I find it really comfortable to wear.
I am still using the infant insert, but altered my carry style a bit, DS is 4 months, and I think we can ditch the insert soon, once his head control is a little better...
Saying that, I borrowed a Jazsling (like a peanut) and I also used that a bit round the house and for short trips. It is also good, cause now, DS can go in it in a kangaroo hold,facing out, round the house, which he like now too....
I love the ergo too - have used it for DD#2 since birth and for DD#1 from about 6 months - brilliant for both.
Sorry to hijack your thread but Rufalina - how are you now positioning your DS, still using the insert? I've found my DD#2 is too long to go in it cradled like you first described but couldn't work out another way to use it so have actually been waiting to use it again when she's bigger and can go in it without the insert. Would love to know if there's an interim position.
Lulu, I have putting DS in standard front carry, but put the infant insert in behind him, so he gets the extra head support, and put the hood over to hold it all in place. Also, as his legs dont really wrap around me, they are sort of a bit bent at the knee, in a kind of frogs leg position. Does that make sense?????
Kim, I meant to add to you, that my DH LOVES carrying DS in the Ergo too. And it is so easy to adjust for him to wear, and I love the break!! And to be honest, I have seen quite a few guys with baby/toddlers in the ergo in the shops lately...
I have both and love them for different things - a quick run to the shops and I throw on the Peanut Shell, but for longer walks or getting jobs done around the house I pop DS on in the back carry and he's happy and usually asleep for hours!! I was looking at another post about ERGO and someone said they're on special at the moment through Babes In Arms until the end of the month, and I really think you can't go wrong with one. Super comfy!! Good luck
