My miss has had her own pillow since she was in her big bed at 14 months. I just bought her the tontine junior pillow. However before that she slept with us mostly and used ours. She always slept better with one and now wont sleep without one. You need to do what you can to get enough sleep!
My DS has had a pillow since around about that age. No probs here. He just settles so much better with a pillow... and he just loves the 'Thomas' pillowcase!
DD has a pillow now and she is 15 months. She loves it and her night sleep improved instantly. I just bought what was called a "junior pillow" from Big W, called My First Pillow, very floppy, suitable for tummy sleeping. DS has had a pillow from about 17 months...same kind of pillow, instant improvement in sleep.
I was worried about his neck - I have a problem neck and DS actually has a slight scoliosis in his neck so this issue is close to my heart. I talked to his osteopath and she said that little kids tend to sleep with their head and shoulders on a pillow, not just their heads (like adults do) so there was no need to worry about his neck. Sure enough, that's certainly the way my kids sleep on their pillows.
