I definitely think it is worth having a first birthday party...although they don't/won't remember it, the photos and memories are worth every minute!

We had a party in a local park, about 12 kids (all 3 & under) and 20 adults and it went really well! We just took food for everyone (finger food & healthy nibblies for the kids), a table, umbrellas, rubber-backed mats and seats. We also took some balloons that we tied to the umbrellas. We basically sat around chatting, watching the kids play and eating. No games or anything for the littlies because they were too young. We also gave out 'party bags' at the end with a couple of lollies for the parents, a balloon and a little (but safe) toy. Everyone commented afterwards that it went really well and that they had a good time so we were very happy. DS had a great day and we loved seeing him so excited to see his friends. We'd do it again in a flash!
