OMG - there must have been something about last night, because my DD did exactly the same thing and ended up in ER with the diagnosis of Croup.
It was so scary seeing her not being able to breath - so I understand where you are coming from.
Did they give your DD oral steriods? They gave my DD a dose which is meant to help stop any of those 'bad beathing' episodes happening again. My DH was home so we jumped in the car and drove to hospital. They told me that if she has another bad turn to just call the ambulance and they can treat her at home with nebulised adrenaline - they said to call regardless as they can very quickly take a turn for the worse, so you did the right thing calling the ambulance.
