    Growth spurt ?

    Ladies
I am pulling my hair out today with a 5 1/2 week old who just won't settle. He is so tired but won't stay asleep. Then he is so tired he's not feeding properly. He is usually a pretty settled little bub who sleeps for long stretches both day and nite.

Could this be the '6 week growth spurt' ???

What are the typical behaviours of growth spurts ???

    Any help would be great

Jacki, I would say you are spot on - it sounds just like the 6 weeks growth spurt to me. The good news is that it should pass in a few days. Hang in there, it will get easier.

    Thanks MantaRay
Had a good night with long sleeps but back to waking up every 1/2 hour or so now that its day time again.

Is unsettled behaviour the only sign of a growth spurt ?

When DS went through his "6 week" growth spurt (at 7 weeks), he was unsettled & just wanted to be fed all the time (every 2 - 2.5 hours). It took about a week for him to get back to normal.

MCHN said that if it didn't improve in a week that it was probably a settling problem, not a growth spurt. So I guess you just need to ride it out & see if he improves :hugs: It's hard work huh?

I hope that his unsettleness passes soon!!!!
