My DD (who is 2 in a couple of months ) seems to have decided that naps are for pussies. She'll have a nap every 2-3 days or so but seems to be able to go the whole day without a sleep. Even the car and the Ergo aren't doing it for her! She's happy and not grumpy and more than meeting her developmental milestones (she's counting to 10! the crazy girl - anywho, that's a whole other post).
She's happy and not tired, gets a bit clumsy at the end of the days when she doesn't nap and goes to bed at 6.30pm those days. She's still a *fairly* frequent overnight waker but we're getting longer stretches from her as time goes on and the most she'll wake in a night now is around 3 times, sometimes only once.
So. My question.
When did your kid(s) give up naps?

Dd is still put down for a nap at childcare and I know she needs one there but not as long as they are letting her sleep because she comes home and won't go to bed till 10 - drives me batty.
My dd is 3.5. At home she doesn't get a day nap and goes to bed by 8 at the latest.
Dd gave up naps at 2 years five months, when ds was six weeks old and I weaned her (she was fed to sleep). From then I could make her nap by walking in the pram at about 1pm. But even then it was often every two or three days. She also goes to bed at 6:30 if she hasn't napped, which I prefer because then she and ds are in bed together early and I actually get a break.
Even now at three she will fall asleep in the pram at least once a week, but she has to be sick to actually sleep in a bed in the day.
DS1 gave them up i'm guessing at the 2.5 mark. Before that he slept when we were home and if he missed it that was ok too.
DS2 is now 2.10 and still sleeping daily. Again if he misses a sleep it's not an issue he will just fall asleep quicker of an evening. I put him down between 12:30 & 2 (no later than 2) depending on the day and he will sleep for 2-3 hours. He just needs it, i tried to cut them out as of an evening it can take him some time to drift off but it wasn't working. He loves his sleep and i need the down time.
DD is totally different. Has been a cat napper since birth, 3x1 hrs in the young months and then 2x1 now. I do my best to make her get no less than those two sleeps but it's hard being so much busier than i was with one and even two. I have no idea how long the sleeps will last with her but i'm not expecting it to be anything like the boys.
After all that rambling i think it's just the child who tells us when they've had enough
DS1 stopped naps at 25 months. DS1 has nap at day care, at home some days but will only bf to sleep and stay on my knee, or if out in pram or car (he is just under 25 months) but has never been a good sleeper and has always bf to sleep or been in pram or car.
WB! J is 3y4mths and can still nap for up to 3 hrs a day (and sleeps well at night) we are just starting to cut back the amount he sleeps but he will keep napping for a while. DD is 4y8 m and still naps every 2-3 days as well for 2 hours so it really is up to what the child needs. I find it easier for me for them TO sleep as I get a lot done but it can be a PITA if we have stuff on. Now they are older though they jus skip the nap for the day and we get them to bed a bit earlier. If she is skipping it and seems happy then you could change to a rest time? I really find that if they are up from 6-7-7 that they still do need some kind of down time even if they aren't sleeping but that's just me and others find their kids can go flat out for 12 hours with no worries!
DS still naps daily usually at about 1230-1ish for about 60-90mins, there is no real sign of him giving them up yet. However lots of my mothers group with similar ages kids are past the nap stage. DS is a pretty active little man so I reckon he tires himself out - he takes play time very seriously hahahahaha
DS is 2y3m and still sleeps 2.5/3 hours every day (unless were at my ILs place where we are today and he doesn't sleep at all - funnily enough, THATS when we have problems - and when he's down for the night, will be awake for 2 or so hours after sleeping for 2 hours) and wakes up as late as 4pm but is still in bed no later than 8:30pm and sleeps through the night, waking up usually between 6:30am and 7:30am
