    Question Advice about wiggles concert

I am supposed to be taking my 3 year old and 14 month old to the wiggles concert. I'm now thinking its not really going to work out for my 14 month old. The reason being he does not stand still.... from the moment he gets up in the morning he is walking around, running, climbing, more walking, more running. I have had to baracade my home so that he is confined to one large open area otherwise he would be running and climbing all over the house, literally. He doesn't even sit still to watch tv. I have had to teach him to sit in a chair to eat but even that is a constant battle, and he still gets up, walks off and comes back and sits to eat, repeat cycle. He is the polar opposite of my first.

So i cannot see how i'll be able to take him to the concert? how is he going to stay in the one spot? He won't sit in a pram or a carrier either. And if i try the harness he will just fall to the floor and thrash around until i take it off.

So how's it supposed to work?? I can't chase after him at this type of thing, plus my 3 year old is very sensitive and will be upset if i spend the whole time trying to confine the baby.

    Has anyone been through this?

I am taking DS to wiggles and when we go he will be 17 months old, we are going with a friend with a 3 and 1/2 yr old and 23 month old and another friend with 3 year old and 1 year old and another with 2 and 1/2 year old and 6 month old!

Prams can not be taken in to arena where we are going, I am also not sure how I will keep DS still and I will be 8 months preg also!!!!!

Sorry no real help for you am I just so you know you are not only one working how this will work!

    Good luck

Yeah its just his personality that isn't conducive with open spaces. My first would have sat on my lap no problems.

Hmm thinking i may have the sell them as i can't really see how it will work.

Can you get someone to look after DS2 so that you can have some alone time with DS1? That way you and DS1 would have some good quality time together and it would be a special thing for him?

Excluding that, most of the kids tend to get up in their seats and jump and dance about - would that appease DS2's need for movement?

Why would you expect a child to sit still at a Wiggles concert? Mine go nuts on the dance floor while I sit nearby and keep an eye on them.

Who said anything about sitting??? i didn't even think there would be chairs!

I thought i explained it pretty clearly that my DS2 WALKS RUNS LEAVES the scene. Any scene.

He will not stay in one spot, whether its in the house, the shops, the beach, playgroup, play centre.

And i don't have any one that can watch him while i take ds2.

I'm going to say that if that was me I would rather not go....speaking from experience with a son that never sat still until recently. I think it would be a nightmare to be stressed the entire time & not enjoy yourself, not to mention waste of $$$ if you didn't enjoy yourself. I took DS to the wiggles last Christmas, he was 20months........he was not bad for some but it was long & he was over it half way through. We were lucky we had seats at the end of a row so he could run back & forth. But have you been to a concert before? they are nuts like any other. There is no way of knowing you will even get seats close by or near the dance floor so he can go nuts. They sell seats right up high.....& jam you in. If you had to keep going after him that could also annoy those your jammed in with IYKWIM. No prams are allowed either. Sorry that's just my thoughts....HTH.

Yes i've been to Hi5 with my first son but he's the polar opposite of my second son. He happily quietly sat on my lap the whole time. He's placid, quiet and not a "mover". He had a great time just sitting and watching though.

Erin, you seem to get what i'm getting at so thanks.... its not that D2 wont sit down, he just won't stay in one "vicinity", he' a traveller. When we got the tickets a while back he wasn't walking much yet so i didn't think this would be a problem, but now it does.

I took my eldest two to a wiggles concert when I was 37wks pg with #3 and during the initial part when everyone was finding somewhere to sit, I did lose sight of her at one stage (baring in mind that we went to a small regional concert max 150 people per session) and thought brilliant, I will be chasing her all show, but once the music started she sat still. You might be surprised and find that he will stay close to you as there are so many people there that you can't really move much anyway, but you know your child best and if there is no other way for you to have someone look after him, both of them will have to miss out I guess.

yes, my ds was the same as yours, I think he was 15 months when we took him to the wiggles and I thought I would be spending the whole time chasing him around too. BUT he was a totally different little boy once the wiggles started, I think he was in shock that he was seeing the wiggles in real life.

We took along some colouring in books and pencils and LOTS of snacks to keep him busy before the concert started. It all worked out well in the end. Your ds may just surprise you.

I went last year to the Wiggles with my 2 sons. My oldest was perfect but I must say DS#2 who was about 15 months was a nightmare. I almost left after 15 minutes. I said I would never do it again. He kept running off and I had to keep chasing him and excusing myself trying to get past people to catch him. If he is like you say I personally wouldn't take him. Can you get someone to look after him because a 3 year old will love the concert. It is so hard when you have a very energetic toddler who won't stand and dance in the one place at things like concerts.

I've listened to my instinct and sold the tix. My 3 year old also wanted to go to the thomas concert instead, so he is going to that alone with my dh.

That's good it is sorted, I too am thinking of taking DS to the Thomas one. I think he would currently love that.

My 3 year old had been incessant about the thomas concert since he saw the ad in the parents paper! He wasn't interested in the wiggles at all (even though he was when i initially asked him if he wanted to go), so it all worked out rather well. And i will get to spend the arvo with my little one.

I don't blame you... I never took my kids to those kinds of events... I don't like anything that makes you stay in one spot too long with small kids. I don't mind out-of-doors events where you can move about... or a venue like an Expo (my kids have seen Dorothy The Dinosaur at that kind of event) but not somewhere where you have to stay in the one spot.

I think it just depends on their personality, for instance i took ds1 to hi-5 when he was about 18 months i think. He sat still on my lap the whole time, but he was just that kind of baby, a non-mover. He's like that still as a 3 year old, very pensive and and predictable. DS2 is a totally different baby/toddler. I have had to insanely child proof my house in ways i never had to with ds1. Its weird!

Yep, I have a similar situation with my 2 boys: one predictable and one not. My youngest is the mover too.
