Question Another 'fussy eater' thread - just a question

Is it too early for me to give Natty nothing for dinner if she refuses the things I'm offering?
Tonight I have made sausage (which is new, so I'm not too concerned that she's not eating that), corn, peas, carrot and baked beans. Last night she ate the corn a couple of peas and some baked beans. Tonight she wont have anything. I know she's tired. I know that if I offer her cream cheese on a cruskit or yoghurt she will eat it.
But I don't want her to think that if she waits it out she will always get cruskit or yoghurt.
What to do? She's not a big girl, so I guess that's why I'm worried. TIA for any advice.

I'm sure there will be other opinions, so I'll offer mine. I still give Darcy something else to eat if she won't eat what's initially offered.
She is a great trier of new things so I know she's not shying away from that. She's still figuring out what she likes and doesn't like. Sometimes she is tired and I get to eat what I want if I'm tired.
When she's a bit bigger I will only make the one meal, but for now I'm happy as long as she eats. Often she picks something better than I'm offering anyway. Like the other day I bought her a cheeseburger and she left it and wanted a sandwich.

I always give Chelsea what we are having. If she refuses it..she has 15 minutes to eat it. If still wont eat it she gets put down on the floor while i eat my tea then once im done she goes back in her chair and i offer her something i know she will eat. I know kids her age wont let them self starve...but i dont like going to bed on an empty tummy so theres no way id let Chels do the same.

We do similar to what Kim does, we enc her first but if she keeps refusing we put her down and try again later. usually she does eat better later cause by then she has gotten more hungry.
We have more of a problem at lunch and at that time of the day I just let her go if she doesn't eat cause I know she still have a little snack and dinner to come later. Dinner time is harder cause you wouldn't want them to go to bed hungry. Keep offereing her what you do and just see how it plays out, it could be her just getting used to the foods.

Thanks for the advice. I took her out of the highchair, we had a play and I gave her a bath. Then we tried again, and she ate some sausage. But that was it. Then I gave her a yoghurt and called it a day.
She's been sort of snacking all day, I suppose, so she probably just wasn't hungry... And you're right, Shell, she does take a while to get used to new foods. And I just need to remind myself not to show any emotion when she refuses foods... I just have to shrug it off... Something that I'm getting a *little* bit better at.
    Ah, tomorrow is another day!

Riley is at his worst at dinner, he is a pretty "chunky" bub but is often only eating a small amt at dinner. I don't worry cause he eats well during the day.
Prob. well meaning relations filled her up with cake and chocolate custard!

Possibly I have thought back to what she's eaten today and I think she's done ok, really. I just don't like the thought that she might be hungry during the night.

If she is doing well during the day with food then she prolly isn't all that hungry by night. Does she wake at night appearing hungry? Some kids prefer to eat bigger at lunch and than dinner and some just like lots small amounts thruout the day and never really eat any big meals.

Yeah, I think she's in that last category. She tends not to eat much lunch either.
