i used to ask people to buy me newborn stuff in 000, Xander was born 9lb2oz but long (54cm) so went straight into 000. Do not bother with 00000 unless your baby is prem or very small at birth, my daughter was about 2kg when she fit into 00000. What i found ther best was just buying 000 for when you had to go buy baby stuffand if you need any 0000, just buy it later.
My son was born March, when it was hot, he spent most of his time i singlets and nappies, plus some short one pieces. Dont buy too much, you can always get more later!! (BTW ebay had 15 wondersuits, pre loved in 4 colours going for about $10 somewhere atm, just noticed it earlier... all 000)

it realy depends on the size and lenght of your baby, Charlotte was 5 months yesterday and is still in 000, ansd i think she willbe in for another month or so, but with dress she is in 00 and bonds jumpsuits 00.
Maybe just get 2 0000 things and the rest 000 until you know what sixe bubs is going to be
Tarleha was born 6pound10 and she was in 00000's for 4months and is now in 0000 at 6 months but we hae to use 000 in some things as she is very long.
Gee she sounds like a midget compared to some of your bubbies. LOL
Like the others have said it does depend on the baby.
Gabby was 8lbs but still managed to fit in some 00000 outfits for a couple of weeks (tho I reckon the few jumpsuits we had were a bit generous). However she mainly wore 0000's for the first month or so.
I'm not sure how the next baby will go because I'll be using cloth nappies. I doubt that 00000's will fit over the clothies (assuming Little Bee will be a similar weight to Gab).
I can't really remember how long Gab was in 000's or 00's or 0's but she pretty much went through all those sizes in the one year. She was just going into size 1 when she turned 1.
They are in size 1 for aaaaaaaagggges! Gabby still wears mainly size 1... so she's been in that size for 9 months. She's sllllowly going into size 2. Most of her friends her age are in size 2. So definitely stock up on size 1 in the right season (whatever that'll be after 12 months). HTH!

Caro, I live in QLD but my first bubby was born in June. She wore 0000 for 2 weeks & I had 3 wondersuits and 2-3 other longsleeve bodysuits and 2 short sleeve bodysuits. I always have around 10 singlets for each size too. She barely wore all the clothes I had. For 000 I had 5 wondersuits(Bonds) which she grew out of quickly as they are on the small side of the sizes. I also had around 7 longsleeve suits for her for winter & got great use of those. I had 5 shortsleeve body suits to wear under things and around 4 "outfits" for going out etc... I had 10 pairs of socks (some never got worn) and 5 warmer wraps. Being in QLD I didn't use the wraps at all, went out for muslin later. But I think if you have cooler nights you'll need the longsleeves, and some nights you may use 2-3 suits depending on explosive nappies... so its always good to have spare around. I do washing every few days anyway, so don't stock up on clothes so much as make sure I always have a clean spare or I do a load of washing. Jovie has less clothes & we are going well... however it is summer & during the day she may only wear a singlet.

I forgot to mention something I have discovered when I posted last -
As far as sizes go I have found that Bonds stuff is about a size smaller then what it says (for instance DS was in size 1 wondersuits when he was wearing size 0 from other shops)
Kmart clothes also run on the small size but their prices are REALLY good...
I would say that Big W (Dimples brand) runs average and Target runs large. Since DS has long arms and long legs I try to buy winter clothes mainly from Target and summer clothes from wherever.
Also, Best & Less has a three pack of nice muslins (121cmx121cm) for $9.99 and they have been brilliant for DS. He doesn't really need to be wrapped for sleeping anymore - though sometimes I just wrap him long enough to get him off to sleep and in the bed then I unwrap him so he doesn't get too hot. Otherwise the muslins are GREAT for covering the pram.

Also I was glad to read the post by someone who said that most babies are in size 1 for AGES - it makes me feel better as I went a bit overboard with size 1 clothes (which DS isn't even wearing yet) so now at least I know he'll get good wear out of the stuff.
Totally agree with you there, Heidi. The wondersuits are definitely a size smaller. I've found the bonds pants to be pretty spot on but the bonds jackets are slightly bigger? You'll definitely get use of those size 1's for your DS!
I personally went nuts with all sizes of clothes. I wouldn't have it any other way tho! I've thoroughly enjoyed dressing Gabby up and I love having a heap of variety. Dunno if I'd be different with a boy.... I doubt it

I thought I wouldn't go so nuts with a boy because I didn't think there was as much to choose from as girls but the selection is MUCH better then it was some time ago. I don't know what your personal opinion is since you have a girl - but I find much of the girl things (even for newborns) to be inappropriate - but you may feel differently about it. So I was suprised when I started going overboard with the boys clothes.
I'm relieved to hear I should get good use out of the size one stuff as I was considering going through it all again and returning some stuff - but then, considering DH and I are still planning on having four babies ultimately - other children can wear the clothes - as some stuff I buy still is gender neutral.
I'm also blessed in that a lady from my church has 3 boys - one of whom is almost exactly 1 year older then DS and she has blessed me with MOUNTAINS of clothes. Most of the size 1-2 stuff she just gave me will be used for play clothes as they have been wore by 3 children already but I firmly believe in having clothes for different occassions. He will have dressy clothes for church and special outings that will be taken off as soon as he gets home, and then he will have play clothes for playing in the dirt, mud, painting and other messy events!
Oh for sure, Heidi. I found that once Gabby was walking (and even when she was crawling but only with the pants) that you need the daggy play clothes. We live on half an acre so Gabby is outside HEAPS. Her daggy clothes get quite a workout. I really don't think I have enough of them! She's got plenty of nice clothes.
I undertand what you mean about little girl's clothes being inappropriate. I found that dresses were useless when Gabby was crawling... she just couldn't crawl in them. We had so many lovely 000 and 00 dresses that never got worn simply because she couldn't move in them. Also some of the more frilly, puffy or cutesy things are just annoying. Gab has 2 fluffy, puffy jackets that barely got worn because they were too boofy. She'd dribble or get food all over them in seconds so they'd look terrible!

Alex was in 6 0s for a while, 5 0s for about two months, 4 0s for another two months, and then slowly slowly slowly catching up. But he was 1.9 kilos born. He's now 3.5, wears size 3 tops and size 2 shorts.
Ned, on the other hand.... 4.4 kilos born, started off in 3 0s, lasted a month before he was in 00s, is now fourteen months and wears only size 2, top and bottom.
My sons are 2 years and 3 months apart in age and wear the same size shorts! Won't be long before Ned wears the size 3 shirts either... Dad and XH often put Ned in Alex's shirts by mistake and you can hardly tell. Certainly with jumpers it's more difficult.
So I guess what I'm saying is that it's really variable from child to child!
(Although I did pass on a heap of 5 0s and 6 0s to another premmie mum from here!)
