hun, it tough hey!
Suse put me onto a guy, google Dr Jay Gordan and look up night weaning, its working here!
i am just tired. i need to discover some ways to get DD2 to sleep through or at least when she wakes up not expect to be attached to my breast all night long. it used to be that i could sleep with her attached (and this is how i got through DD1s babyhood also) but i am finding that i am only in a half sleep for much of the night. if i take my nipple out of her mouth she will wake up within minutes and want to get back on.
she is in bed for the night at about 6pm. she will then wake up a couple of times between then and 11pm but DH can settle her within a few minutes and get her back to sleep. its once we are in bed and i wake up to her that i bring her into our bed and then she is attached to me for the rest of the night and gets out of bed at 5am.
i dont know whether trying not to feed her during the night is bad for her.. does she still need some milk overnight at this age? or should i perserver with the crying to get her back to sleep without booby?
that poses a problem too because when she is crying she wakes up DD1 who is then in our room too.
maybe i should give her formula at night? i just dont know.
any suggestions?

:yeahthat:
I also want to add that DD2 can scream her head off and DD1 will sleep through it all!
I can totally sympathise (sp?) I have had a similar situation with DD2 - she was going to bed around 8pm, then awake at 1-2am, then 3:30am etc so I'd bring her into our bed and then sleep sitting up feeding her. Its not a good way to get sleep is it?
Anyway, it has gradually been getting better - the night before last she slept through! The only thing Ive been doing differently is getting her to go to sleep in her cot, rather than feeding to sleep then putting her in her cot later
Are you able to get a sleep in here and there? Once a week DH will give me a sleep in and it makes such a difference!
The only other thing I can think of is making sure she's not too hungry overnight (although it does sound like she's comfort sucking) maybe try cluster feeding before her bedtime?
Sorry I can't be more help! Hope you get some sleep soon darl
eta - formula doesn't guarantee she'll sleep better, just thought I'd throw that in there
yeah i realise the formula thing.. but just thought i would try anything! LOL
i googled that dr, he says only for older babies. is 9 months too young then?
i will try to get her to sleep off the boob a bit more tonight, though i know i am in for crying and screaming and waking my 3 year old up. chelsea is just sooooo loud! :-(
Your baby sounds completely normal! But I know that doesn't really help.
Have you read the No Cry Sleep Solution? It has some great ideas for babies that cosleep and are fed to sleep etc.
Can you try and just put her in bed with you and rub her back when she's strirring? 9 months is a notoriously bad time for sleep!
have tried the no cry sleep solution. hasnt really helped much. she just cries and cries when we try to pat her, only the booby will work over night! :-(
Hollo - I have been using it with my 10 month old and it has been working. I have had 2 full nights sleep through out of the last 3 which is a massive improvement!
Also DD1 and DD2 share a bedroom so DD2's screaming at the top of her lungs was right next to sleeping DD1 - DD1 barely stirred. You might be surprised what they can actually sleep through (just like men!)
ok, will try it. i go to bed thinking i wil try it but when i am so tired and i go get her i just settle for the easy option and let her feed to sleep. i dont know which is worse. being tired and listening to her cry while implementing the technique or being tired and only half sleeping while she feeds all night!
your DD must be a sound sleeper. my DD wakes up when chels cries. she was not the best sleeper as a baby too. i cant wait til my two can share a room. i dont think it would work though yet. what do you do when your little one has a day sleep and your older one wants to play in her room?
When DD2 has a day sleep DD1 knows she can't play in there. I tell her I am going to put J down for a sleep so if there's anything she wants to play with she needs to get it out and she can play in the lounge room or outside. She has learnt to plan better doing that so she thinks about what she wants and gets prepared. Often she will just go outside and play int he sandpit or we will do some craft in the kitchen.
thats great nai! i will think about doing something like that soon. is it the same at bed time. chels goes down at 6pm but hannah doesnt until around 8. so would have to do the same sort of thing. i guess then we would have a spar room which could be a play room. thanks you have me trhinking :-)
My DS2 is around the same age as your DD2, and he's been doing a similar thing, so I can sympathise! Is your DD2 teething at the moment? My little man is, and I'm pretty sure thats what the problem is. He was sleeping through, but then when the teething started he's been waking up every 2-3 hours and often the only way to settle him is to breastfeed (he even starts looking for it now while I'm holding him, as in nuzzling me until he gets down near my breast - it is so obvious what he wants!). And often he wakes and cries when I take my nipple out of his mouth too.
I've had a bit of success with those Hylands teething tablets that dissolve on their tongue - if teething is her problem, have you tried these? I use those and bonjella and I have to say I've noticed some improvement. Other than that, if worst comes to worst I simply put him in bed with me and let him feed while I go to sleep, its been my saviour on a couple of occasions. Although I know you said that hasn't really worked for you, so I'm sorry thats not very helpful....
Good luck hun, many of us know exactly how you feel!

umm. i dont think it is teething though i could be wrong. she has all 4 top and 4 bottom teeth.. with a recent break through up to so i think she is ok on that front.
i tried that method last night,dr gordons.. for those who have tried it can you let me know your experience.
chels didnt cry like i thought she would actually. she came into our bed at about 10 then i fed her for a little while and pulled my nipple out she cried and fussed for about a minute then rolled away from me and i patted her to sleep. AWESOME> however..... it lasted about 2 minutes. we repeated the process.. this time she didnt cry at all just rolled over and went to sleep but again it lasted only about 5 mins. this continued for a while. did that happen to you? the little sleeps?
my bub was very similar, then I tried giving the dummy instead of the boob and it worked great! She only occasionally wont settle wit it and I have to feed her.
