Boiling Water?

Hi everyone

Just wondering when you can stop boiling water for bubs to drink?

Is there a reccommended time?

Ds is Formula Fed so i boil water for his bottle, also when he just has water and i add a bit of boiled water to his baby juice too.

He is crawling and licking the floor and occasionally putting things in his mouth that shouldnt so is it even worth boiling it when he has so much contact with germs?

When did you all stop boiling it? My plan was to continue boiling to 12 months when he comes off of formula.

Oh ds is 7 months btw.

i heard something like you stop boiling around 12 months - thats for normal tap water. the side of my formula tin says boil up to 18 months for bore and tank water. i've only just stopped boiling for my ds and she is two (i'm a bit pedantic!)

i was told six months, i stopped around 8-9 months....

I gave Riley filtered water from about 8 months.

We still boil Charlie's water for his formula, as it's just habit I guess & he will be on cows milk soon so it will not matter anymore. As for his water bottle, we just use filtered water from the fridge. He's outside eating bugs, dirt & whatever else he can get his hands when I turn away. So I figure filtered should be fine....provided the water is not heavily treated etc. Where we recently lived we wouldn't even drink the water...so it was bottled water all round. Currently it's rain water....sooo much nicer.

This would depend on the quality of your water. A few years ago in the Sydney area they had swimmers in the tap water and it was reccomended to boil the water for everyone not just babies.

Alan- I remember that!! we had to buy bottled water for school and have it in our classrooms, some schools boiled theirs and ladled it out from clean plastic bins.
