Breastfed 19 month old - Growth Spurt????

    Hi all,

DS is 19 months and for the past two weeks has been waking at night up to 5 times for a breastfeed. Before this he would sometimes wake once a night, when I would bring him into our bed, sometimes he would have a feed but most of the time just go straight back to sleep. Lately he will go to bed at around 8 but by 10 he is awake asking for milk, so I bring him into bed with us and throughout the night will feed feed feed!! I don't really mind too much but I am getting a bit exhausted as his day sleeps aren't going too well either. He used to have a good 2 hours after lunch but now most of the time I am lucky to get 20 minutes out of him. He still definately needs his nap though as by 4/5 o'clock he is a bit of a monster. Also, he is breastfeeding up to 5 times during the day as well and constantly going to the fridge and pantry asking for "more".

I do give one cup of cow's milk a day but it doesn't lessen the breastfeeds at all and TBH I don't really like to give him too much cow's milk because if he is going to have milk I would prefer it be mine.

So I'm just wondering if this could be another growth spurt or has anyone else had this with their toddler? Could it just be a stage???

    TIA

My DD is 18 months and is just weaning herself (down to one feed a week at this stage... so this is not exactly the same as your situation, but I have certainly noticed that she goes through really hungry stages. The other night she kept waking up and while she didn't want a BF, she only ended up going back to sleep solidly after we gave her a cup of milk and a whole banana at 2am! When she was about 16 months I remember she went through a stage of feeding lots at night, but I didn't notice any weight gain after that "growth spurt" - although her feet have grown!!

Hugs to you, I know how exhausting it is.

Razzle-- I was just wondering how
You're going with this. I've just come acrossyour post and I'm going through the same thing-- although not so much wththe day feeds but nighttime and naptime are as you describe. I'm thinking also the last of the teeth? Or an earache?
He also won't let my DH put him to sleep and often will wake if I even move my arm from under his neck!
I hope you're now past it....
