    Both my dd's do that and it was worms too. Apparently they travel up into the vagina and it can sting/ irritate.

    oh yes! i would treat for worms too. We just went through that with DD1 (6 years) and then i realised after we realised that she had worms that that was what was causing DD3 to have terrible nights!) apparently they are really active at night and crawl about and up and cause sore, itchiness. during the day DD1 was fine, but at night it would hit and she would get hysterical.
