Not sure exactly what a car capsule is, but here in Canada we do have to dress our babies warmly in the winter. We have these "bunting bags" that stay in the car seat all the time. You don't have to put a coat on your little one. The bunting has holes in it for the car seat straps to go through, and then the cover zips on over the baby's feet and legs. The top is unfastened and can loosely cover baby's face in very cold weather, or be folded down so he can look around when it is warmer, or in the car. I had one for my daughter this past winter and it was great! Very soft, and warm and comfy, and she stayed safely buckled. If she fell asleep and we went inside, I could just unzip the cover, and she could stay asleep and not get overheated. I don't know where you would get one in Australia, but I know a lot of moms make their own over here, and I'm sure you could find a pattern.
Also, the car seats that fit into strollers are great, so if you are going shopping and your baby is asleep, you don't have to take them out of their seat - just set it in the stroller.
    All the best!

We have a capsule and it's great to just take it off the base and carry it into the shops or clinic etc. Although I'm finding Cooper already hard to carry in it! I'm not the strongest person! So it's more something for my DH to do.
