Coincidence or a bit of proof?

Anyone that has a baby/child wearing a Amber teething necklace would be use to the queastion 'Does it work?'

My reply was always, I never take it off to know.

Well last Tuesday I took DD2 off because she started bighting it and a broke a couple of pieces. On Wednesday she woke with bad nappy rash and by Friday it had become much worse. I told her teacher at day care and she smoothered lots of cream all day on her for me. She even asked me where her amber necklace was (she is the onky one at her DC that wore one).
Over the weekend I used some really strong cream and by Sunday it was starting to clear and now is gone, thankfully.

Anyway, my point is, yesterday DD2 teacher asked do I think it is because I took her necklace off? DD2 has only had a slight nappyrash when she got gastro last year and really it was only a slight redness.

Just made me think that is very well could be. At the very least I have a point to add to my answer of does it work?

I could tell when my DDs had come off cos she was way more cranky and unsettled. It doesn't seem to affect DS as obviously, but he is a bit more chilled anyway.

As per HotI's post, my gf swears by the necklace. If she ever took her DS off and forgot to put it back on she'd have a very unhappy baby on her hands, particularly when teething.

I have one but it seems so big that I am scared to use it on my DD (she is 4 mo), She is starting to drool alot and has really unhappy periods in the afternoon/early evening

RhiChiChi - when my DS was little i use to wrap it around his ankle and put socks on him to keep it on. At night in winter he use to have it on his ankle and the full onsie would help keep it on as well. Just a suggestion?

My DS always wears his and i say the same thing.. i dunno but its not harming him wearing it so why not? dont want to risk it! lol so interesting to read this!

I'm really torn. Sometimes I think I like the idea of it more than I think it actually works.

I don't see how it could prevent nappy rash though- isn't the saponin that it releases a just a natural painkiller?

DS is 3.7 and has been wearing his since he was 4 months old (like AligatorsMum said, I put it around his ankle at night with a sock on) I have never taken it off. Im scared he'll turn feral...

Ds gets rashes when I take his off but it takes about a month to get working again if its been off for a while
I figure it can't be placebo because placebo doesn't work on babies

I was pretty sure there was nothing to it but I put it on DD3 around 6 months out of sheer desperation. Then a couple of weeks ago I took it off her for the first time because she had gastro and I know I hate stuff constricting me in any way when I'm sick. Left it off her for a couple of days and even after the gastro had cleared she was still a grumpy little maggot. Put it back on and within 36 hours she was much happier again. Could have been pure coincidence but I'm not taking it off again any time soon, just in case ;-)

I put it back on her last night. She has been upset and clingy all week and after reading the comments on here about change in their LO thought I would see too. Will see over the weekend. She loved having it back on though so either way I told her as long as it stays out of her mouth and she does not bite it then she can keep it on.

I can always tell when DS does not have his on, a very cranky baby and nappy rash to boot, with it on within a few hours a happy baby returns.

we also can tell when we take it off. especially when they are younger. DD2 was crazy unsettled but with the necklace on she was alot calmer. like PP have mentioned, the two times that i took it off there was a noticeable difference in her ability to cope and calmness.

I have one for DD3 but she is just sooo chillaxed that I havent put it on yet (and as RCC mentioned it just looks way too big ATM).
