Question The colour of your baby's eyes

    Hi

I have been wondering lately about whether or not my bub's eyes will change colour and what will she end up with. She's 8 weeks today. At the moment they are a dark blue, so just wondering if this is likely to change (My eyes are blue, dads are brown)...
So...just wondering what colour your bubs eyes were at birth and did they change, and when? Is blue more likely to change colour then brown eyes at birth, or vice versa..?????

Love to hear about your bubs!

I think they can take up to a year to decide? I'm not totally sure.
However my first 2 stayed blue, but Elizabeth is 16 months and hers have been changing from brown to green depending on what day it is!

Charlie- sounds like maybe if they are blue than they are likely to stay blue..

I have blue eyes and DH has brown. Our girls were born with blue eyes and at about 6 months Ilaria has gone a hazel-green colour and Vashti is Hazel-brown. While they have beautiful eyes I was hoping they would have blue eyes like me.

My son was born with the classic grey blue newborn coloured eyes, and now at 12 weeks they are a bright, vibrant blue. Both DH and I have blue eyes so genetically impossible for them to be anything but blue or green,

My older 2 boys were born with dark blue/slate coloured eyes and by the time they were 1 turned hazel.
Calebs eyes were the same and are now beginning to get some flecks of brown inside and I suspect will have the same green toward the outside of his irises.
    It's quite interesting!

Charly are Dark Blue/Slate colour same as when born, some days they look a little lighter. Waiting to see if they change I have hazel/grey rim and DH Blue/Green so will be interesting to see what happens.

Oscar was born with the exact same blue eyes as DH - even the flecks were the same so i knew they wouldn't change. Will was born with blue eyes but not like DH so i was hoping they would change to brown (like me) - and yay they did! Mine are brown in the middle and green on the outside and for ages Will's were brown but blue on the outside - they've now changed to green on the outside so just like mine.

I think mostly babies are born with blue eyes (with a few exceptions eg Sheries!) which can change but if they are born with brown eyes i don't think they can change (may be wrong though but seem to remember this from somewhere)

I have noticed in the last few days that Noah's eyes have been getting green around the pupil, both Justin and I have green eyes and I am happy that it looks to be like Noah will have them too. He was born with slate blue eyes.

I have green eyes and DH has brown.
Yasin was born with his eyes so dark brown that it's hard to see his pupils. Imran's were lighter at birth but now they've got a bit darker although they're still not as dark as Yasin's.

I have brown eyes and DH has blue eyes. I am the only person within mine and DH's immediate families (going right back to our great grandparents) with brown eyes. Everyone else has blue and green.
And DD was born with brown eyes and they've stayed brown. So it must be a pretty dominant brown eyed gene I have!

Danielles eyes were so dark they almost looked black, but it you looked really close they were an extremely dark blue. By the time she was 6 months they were brown and have stayed that way. The same colour as DH's eyes.
