What is he like in himself? Is he more sleepy, less energetic, is his mouth moist? Has he been sweating much today? You could try putting a tissue in his nappy as this will get wet very obviously if he is weeing.
Hun TBH I would be starting to get a bit worried by now. Little bubs can get dehydrated quickly so I think I'd err in the side of caution and call the local hospital to see whether they advise you bring him in. You're his mummy and you're worried so trust that instinct.
hi muminalice - he is fine smiling playing, no sweating today its been cool today, no signs he is dehydrated, he definately does not have wet nappies they are bone dry. Its not just today they are hardly ever wet
Hey darl... DD doesnt have many wet nappies either- i actually called the ABA because i was a bit worried and couldnt remember how many she was supposed to be having at this age- i was told four- this can include a poo nappy as they generally wee when they poo- but DD would be wet in the morning, poo mid morning then i wouldnt need to change her til the afternoon- i would sometimes change her almost unneccessarily, sometimes she would be in te same nappy until bed time (7-8pm) and then in the night time nappy til 9am.
DD was getting really unsettled in the afternoon and at night and i have actually been topping her up with formula (dont shoot) and since then her wee nappies have increased dramatically. I am still feeding 2-3 hourly all day, but come the afternoon she just wants more then i have- and the extra boost of drink seems to be agreeing with her. They are the same age- so maybe its just that time, as it seemed to be about a month for us too. Not sure if that will help you though as you say DS is happy and fine, but maybe call the ABA and see- or like Spring says, go to the hospital just to get a check out. Hope you get some reassurance!!
Both my boys have been light on the wet nappies since they were about a month old, never got the 6 - 8 heavy wet nappies, Both are happy, smiley, content otherwise and poo.
Even now at 28 months and 10 months morning nappy is about only heavy one.
If you are concerned you need to get your DS checked out, if mouth and lips are moist, fontanelle not sunken and otherwise well I wouldnt worry too much.
That must be very worrying. For most babies, 5 or more heavily wet disposables is the best sign of enough milk. In the early days poos tell us more than wees, but after 8 - 12 weeks this isn't always helpful as it can be fine for bfed babies to go up to 10 days without a poo. In your case though, pooing 2 -3 times most days, is a great sign, and certainly these count as wees too. The more poos the less wees also. If there are that many soft or runny poos, your baby is contented with good skin tone (does it bounce back when pinched?) and he is putting on some weight over a 3 - 4 week period (remember that weight gains will usually be lower after about 3 months so the gains don't have to be as big as they were), then it sounds like he is getting enough milk. A visit to a medical practitioner - MCHN or GP perhaps - never hurts to give you some peace of mind if you are worried. What does your instinct tell you?
