Do you give your bub (under 1) chocolate?

Nope. No chocolate for DD2 (she's nine months). Won't miss what she doesn't know.

At 28 months, Sam still doesn't really get chocolate!

He has some small solid easter eggs from an egg hunt - he likes to tip them in and out of the cup and play with them like they are balls... He asked to eat one, I unwrapped and he took one lick and then set it aside. He doesn't seem to really like it...

Or, he's just got good taste and will only eat good chocolate. My parents got him a gold bunny and he tried to nibble on the ear, foil and all and was a bit unhappy that we set it aside.

I have no issue with Sam having small bits of chocolate, but he's not overly interested! But he did get to lick some chocolate off my finger at his first easter, when he was about 5 months old - same thing, wasn't really interested.

i think its an individual parent's choice and no one has a right to judge that either way. so i would have definitely be peeved that she was trying to push her ideals on to me. But i love your work in eating them!!! lol i would have done the same.

but to answer your question, no my 16 month old does not get chocolate. He was very happy with a little cow-shaped basket and a small ginger bread (which i took off him cos he went silly after a very small bite... his daddy ate it lol). But the basket ... HUGE HIT!

Maybe next easter when he can understand it all a bit better he'll get a small egg but I personally would prefer he didn't eat junk food at this young age.

I don't give her chocolate. But if DD1 get some from her Oma when her cousins leave (as that is apparently a very devastating experience for her) or I am having a couple of squares and DD2 comes up and smacks her lips at me, sure I let her bite a little. It certainly hasn't spoiled her appetite for veggies or anything. And yes, it is much more difficult with subsequent children to keep things from them as their older siblings leave their food around or blatantly try and shove it in there mouths, so DD had also had peanut butter and eggs before 6 months courtesy of DD1 .

9 mths no. But over 12mths yes. I never have chocolate in the house, so it would normally only be easter, special occasions or xmas. I remember when DD#1 was 8ish months old...we were on our way back from a road trip, and she was sooooo cranky. We bought her a freddo frog at a servo - not the little ones, those big freddo types. Needless to say, she ate the lot, and DH and i were up to 11pm that night, with DD in our bed....um...trying....to ...climb the walls. She was so hypo.
