Do you use a baby bath seat for an older baby or toddler (>6 months)? Which one do you have and why is it good?

i've never used one but I haven't had a child who always wants to stand up or move around too much either
I used the Safety 1st swivel bath seat for my eldest DS. I found it fine to use, he could sit up happily and there was enough room around it to make it easy to wash him properly.
I did until he could sit up well and now I don't. But I don't use a real bath but fill up the bottom of a deep shower. The floor of it isn't curved like a bath so is probably a bit safer. I still have my hands at the ready though in case he has a spill.
I had one but XDH won't let me have it, I think the brand is safety first. SO much easier bathing him in it, he loves to crawl/stand/roll around the bath so it's definitely easier using the seat. I guess if I had a non-slip mat in the bottom of the bath the seat would be unnescessary..sorry just thinking out loud LOL
krystal used hers from 7 months till about 13 months.. when she was too big to get in and out. the best thing we ever bought!!!
cant think of the brand though sorry!
I got mine from Target and it was great until she could sit up safely without worrying about a tumble.
I used a baby seat for Clae. Out of all the things I bought the baby seat was definately the best investment.
hi,
in regards to bath seats i found something very interesting, i found that with the child i didnt use one with she would cry and be more disturbed with bathing times as water would get in her ears she hated it. There was no medical reason why either. As for the others much more relaxed as the water didnt fill the ears as much as the first born.
Its much safer too i believe with a seat as your hands are more free. If choosing one i would choose one with the insert between the legs. iIhave just bought another one for this baby the other one i had was a fabric ramp style but still worked good but i dont expect it would have worked as good as the specially molded ones they have these days. The stopper between the legs sorry i don't know what to call it is adjustable. I also found when picking one not all had the best neck support and some had holes (slits for the water to run through behind the babies head. this was the type i bought for the above reasons. Non slip too or at lease but a non slip mat in the bath.
hope this info helps
Yeah, we love our baby bath seat thingo. Best thing we ever borrowed. And because it is borrowed I couldn't tell you the brand or cost or anything, but it is like a plastic one with suction cap feet that is slightly reclined with a centre peice at the foot of it for his little bottom to rest against so he doesn't go for a swim.
I love it love it and don't want to stop using it. Have tried washing him a few times with him sitting up but I am not a huge fan. Maybe when he is a bit bigger I will feel differently, but I will definately buy one if I can't borrow one for the next bub.
I too have the safety 1st one from target.......best investment ever have been using it since 6 months and cooper is now 9 months he loves it.
my mum got me one from ebay and it has been the best thing, makes bath time ALOT more relaxing, is a bit akward getting her in it though, but once she's in its great. just gave her a bath at my mums without the seat and it was so stressful as she would only stand, and she was slippery once i soaped her up.... she ended up getting panicky and crying.... so i definitely rate the bath seat, will be a shame once i can no longer get her in it..... it definitely makes her bath more enjoyable as she sits there and plays and we can play too.
We have used a baby holder seat thing in the bath since W was about 8 weeks old. It has an adjustable thing at the bottom that stops him slipping down and it suctions onto the bath. He was getting too heavy for DH to hold and lets him have both hands free. I am not sure if this is what you are asking about though because I don't think he will fit in it by 6 months? Are there different bath seats for older bubs?
We bought an inca brand curved lying down bath thingy. Got it from baby kingdom for about $20 but know that big W sells the inca baths and stand. I have put DD in it since she was about 4 months as she lays it in and there is a stopper at her vagina (which i put a cloth on so its softer...but hmm now that i think about it...would i use it if i had a boy?) Its easy to lay her on there, i dont have to hold her and am free to wash her and play with her, she kicks about and everything. She is still in it at 7 1/2 months.
We bought a bath seat (combined newborn/toddler seat) before DS was born...we tried using it once but it was too awkward and messy... Much easier letting him now sit in the tub (we bath him in the laundry sink - it's next to the kitchen so DH baths him while I get dinner or vice versa). We also bought a terry towelling newborn bath bouncer thingy which we used a few times but again, it was just easier without it.![]()
