I'm beginning to think sleep doesn't necessarily promote sleep either. DS has always woken up during the night until this week. The only change is that he's having less sleep during the day or just one bigger sleep. He's skipping his morning sleep, sleeps 1.5 hours after lunch and last night he slep 7pm-7.30am without a single wake up. He has never done that before so you can imagine how happy that made me!!!
Tonight the same, not much sleep today but hasn't woken since he went down at 6.30 and usually he would wake every hour or so after going down.

I am finding a more relaxed day sleep 'routine' to be working for us so far. Less sleep during the day is definitely giving us more sleep at night, which is the opposite to what other people had been telling me!

It's so hard to know. DD always had a huge afternoon sleep of around 3 hours and sometimes until 5pm and would still go to bed at 7.30pm and sleep for 12 hours.

She did that until she was at least 2.

I thought, though, that 'they' reckoned most babies/toddlers need a similar amount of sleep overall. Some get some of it through a long day sleep and a shorter night sleep whereas others will get it with a shorter day sleep and longer night sleep.

    Dunno TBH.

I don't know but I do know that DD2 only needs 90 min during the day and then 11 hours (7pm - 6am) overnight. DD1 needed 2 hours during the day and 12 hours at night at the same age.
