    Weaning off a gro-bag

Mackenzie is 2 in September and I thought from around then onwards (but probably closer to 2 1/2) I would consider putting her in a bed. We're in no rush but I am wondering at what stage should I start putting her to sleep without her gro-bag? It's such a strong sleep cue for her at the moment and she NEVER stays under blanket. I also know that she can't wear one in a big bed so she would have to be used to not using it.

Any ideas? I did think that this Winter I would still put ehr in a light bag and then use more blankets so she gets used to it.

This may be a dumb question, but why can't she sleep in a grobag in a bed?

DS#1 weaned himself off his grobag when he was 2 and a half. I was quite happy for him to sleep with it in his big boy bed because he knew how to walk around in it anyway so I didn't see it as a problem. They make them for older children too!

Anway, we talked about his new bed for a couple of weeks and how he could have sheets and blankets on it. Well - three days before the new bed arrived he decided he didn't want his bag anymore and wanted the sheets and blankets in the cot. Then when his big boy bed arrived he went straight into it with sheets and blankets - no problem at all.

So, I 'd suggest talking to her about it - she might just surprise you with how much she understands.

    Good luck,

We put DD into a bed when she was 2 but it was the middle of summer so she had started to sleep in just cotton pj's so the grow bag wasn't an issue.

She actually slept in the bed during winter in her sleep suits but we got the ones with legs rather than the bag. That way if she got up or fell out she could walk. I think they are the snugtime ones. Maybe wean her on to the sleep suit from the grobag before removing them altogether.

I weaned DS off his when he was about 18 months. He was still in a cot but maybe just try putting her to bed during the day without it and even then just give it a go at night. I found summer the perfect time to do it as if they got out of the blankets they wouldnt get too cold, if they even needed blankets. He had no problems with it at all. So maybe just try it one night, she may surprise you.

My dd#2 transitioned to a big bed in her grow bag, I had a realy big one that she used in winter till she was 4. She was upset when i could no longer get her one. Though in summer she slept without it.
So if she is comfy in it you could always let her still have one.

i started in summer when it is warmer and i knew she wouldnt get cold

Firstly i stopped using it with day sleep and when she was comfy with the idea i stop at night.
She had no problme what so ever.

It has been 6-7 months now and she is in her big bed (as of last week) but still wont use sheets. She tosses and turns to much and i find her in the weirdest postiions in the bed.

SO i just dress her accordinglly until she figures out what sheets are for

DS had a grobag in his big boy bed... up until around 2.5yo I think, he was able to walk around in it fine! He transitioned out of it during the summer, cause in Bris, summer nights can be just too hot for anything...
I dont remember having an issue with it at all come the next colder months when he bagan using a doona. The only frustrating thing was him kicking it off and getting cold lol.

you can get a zipper sheet set from Grobag. on their website this is what they say:

Grobag First Duvet Bedding Set is an all-in-one duvet cover, bottom sheet & pillow case set, that has been cleverly designed to make it easier for little ones to move from a cot to a first bed.

To prevent your child from rolling out of bed, the duvet cover is attached to a fitted sheet with specially placed zips. The zips make sure that your little one does not kick off the covers in the middle of the night as they get used to their big bed.

An ideal next step from the Grobag Baby Sleeping Bag, you can rest assured that Grobag First Duvet Bedding Set makes moving to a big bed safer, easier & fun for your child.

google bambini pronto and they have it on there to buy. they are quite expensive but worth it i think
