If I were you I would leave the cot in the baby room and put him straight into his new bed in his new room. Otherwise it's 2 transitions he has to make. As far as deciding whether to do it first as a night or day sleep, use whichever he usually goes down better for. We did a night sleep as the first as ds always settles quickly at night but usually mucks around for a while before his day sleep.
