Amber when my girls are super splashy i bathe them topless. They have bath seats to help me to wash them properly and ease my back. I also kneel on the bathmat or a few towels to help my knees.
So this is hardly a major problem, but I come away from every bath time absolutely soaked and with an arm I can barely feel anymore! Peter loves to splash like he is determined to create a tsunami- I am delighted he enjoys his bath so much, but geez I get SOAKED.
Also, he's grown out of his baby bath, so he's in the big bath now- which means reaching over to hold him the whole time and it is killing my arm.
Just wondering how you experienced mamas deal with these practicalities! Any brilliant (or even mediocre) ideas?!

Go get a bath seat. You can get ones to sit up - over about 6 months & ones that are reclined for little bubs. I'm sure you could get one at Big W or somewhere.
I used a reclining bath seat when DD was a baby and now that she is sitting up, am using one that it is like a ring, just to stop her slipping. I got tendenitis when I was pg and had it till about 4weeks after she was born.. If I didn't use the seat, I would never have been able to bath her..
I keep a bit dryer by not holding and just leaning over the side, but DD is a splasher too..
Get a bath seat. I had a pic of DS in his to show my BB's here: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...php?photo=9604
DS would splash and splash aswell.. think its just what they do lol. But least with the bath seat, they sit in it, you dont have to hold them, and you can avoid getting drenched!
You just get them at Bigw or kmart. Theres some even on ebay.
Either that.. or just put a small amount of water on the bottom of the bath. Get a bath mat and just lie him down. They love doing that also.
I have a terry towling bath stand from baby bunting. It's for newborns so they can lie on it and you don't have to hold them, it's only about $15 and has saved my back! It may save you getting so wet because you don't have to be 'in there' the entire time. I also kneel on a folded up towel for my knees. Ah i'm getting old!
Ahhhh....bath seat! I did not know about those! Many traps for young players!
Thanks ladies!
I bathe bub in the laundry trough. Only because we don't have a bathtub in this house.
I love it because of its height, there is no bending down or kneeling, and when she is done, I just lift her onto the washing machine (its a nice big steel one. I have a newer one to get the Man to put in, but it is smaller, and the lid is plastic!).
She loves to splash a lot too, so I just put towels down everywhere (between the washing machine and trough too), then hang them up on the line to dry. Use them for that a few times before they go in the wash.
Not sure what else to suggest.
I sometimes bath with her... and get DH to help me get her out. He takes her out and dries and dresses her while I dry and dress my self...
We used to put a bath mat down and then fold up a large towel and put that on the bottom of the bath and lie her head on it...we still leant over the bath as didn't trust that she wouldn't roll over (and that never went down well!), but it was much easier on our backs than having to hold her the whole time. Bath seats are good too...if you want to go out and buy another baby product!

Bathe together. I have done that with DS and he likes the deeper bath and it's more fun playing with Mama in the bath than her not liking being wet.
I would either bath together when possible..
or make the bath very shallow and just let him spalsh about on his own and then you only need to sit there next to him![]()
My suggestion would be to jump in with the baby.
Get in the bath. Then it doesn't matter how wet you get.
I'm not sure how old your child is but have you thought about showering together. DF & DS have been showering together since he was a newborn as it worked so well with DF's DD.
