    HELP - breaking down

Sorry lovelies, not sure where to post this - mods, pls move if need be.

My little gorgeous bubba (7 months) stopped using his dummy, bottle, swaddle to settle about 2-3 weeks ago (not all at the one time, just gradually) which was great. He was sleeping 12 hours straight a night about 4 nights a week, and the other 3, waking once.

Since Sunday, he has started waking every 40 mins (bar about 12 am to 3 am after a feed). He started choking while breathing and DH picked him up and kept him up for about 30 mins to check his breathing was ok. Put him back down then this all begun. Been going on 5 days now and I'm on the edge with sleep deprivation. We thought he had a tooth coming through as we can see a white dot on the top, but touching it or the bottom level, bonjela, Nurofen, Panadol, seem to have no effect.

Is this normal? Is it a phase? I'm going out of my mind!!!!

    Thanks xxx

Hey Mia, what are these little people doing to us hey?? Look, I'd say it's another 'stage' Fraser is going through, but I'm not 100% sure. When in doubt with Cam, I call the mcn or I go and see the doc. If they can't help me I book in to see his paed. Cam has been going great, but lately his sleeping habits during the day are all over the place, I'm waiting for it all to return to normal!!! When he suddenly got fussy with the bottles (this went on for at least 2 to 3 weeks) I found some white spots in his mouth (again ) and this time I treated him like I was supposed to according to the instructions, and within 2 days he was back to his nornal self. Call someone hun and see what they say. You know these bubbas hun, they are always changing and doing something new!

Oh, another thought, is he maybe going through a wonder week or something? I've read somewhere there is one around 29 weeks......

I would be thinking wonder week / growth spurt
Hopefully he settles down into routine again for you soon and you can get some sleep

Thanks Beata, honey - didn't want to burden our group as all we seem to have is problems. I'm now very aware of this affecting others (especially as a girl at our mother's group asked us to leave as I told them Fraser was going through a screaming phase and she didn't like it - it wasn't even her group). It's knocked my confidence so much. I have NO family here and we've never been apart from Frasie for more than 3 hours.

I think I may try the docs as I"m struggling so much and everyone keeps telling me to suck it up

Sweetie sounds like you are doing it pretty tough. Every bub is different and Fraser is just finding his place. The girl at MG doesn't sound very nice, especially if they asked you to leave when you obviously needed some support.
Talk to your doctor of health nurse because it sounds like you need a bit more support for yourself. If you are struggling he will pick up on it and it will affect him (I have PND and I know when things are really bad Mr P responds to it)

She asked you to leave because you wanted to talk about your baby?!?!?!! OH HELL NO!

Mothers Group is for just that!!!

Tiah is soooo bad for sleeping now. We basically have resigned ourselves to the fact that she will only sleep for three hours max. It is so draining though isnt it? I cant seem to think straight anymore and I find it really hard to stay calm when she wakes up for the sixth time at night, and I am sure she picks up on it.

I just try and remember these things (I am chanting them to myself over and over.... it is the only thin that keeps me sane)

Someone else, somewhere, is waking up again to their crying baby at this exact moment... it isnt just me!

At this exact moment, even though I am tired and would love her to sleep, she is mine and only mine. She isnt wanting a toy, or her grandma or the cat... she wants ME!!!

I read in one of my baby books that intelligent babies sleep less because their brains are so active. hahahhahahaha I am sure they put that one in there for us sleep deprived mothers, but it gets me through the night. "She isnt a bad sleeper... she is a GENIUS!!!

I know this probably doesnt help, but that is what is helping me cope

(OH AND - I believe that most women in mothers group LIE. No one is completley honest... everyone in mine took soooo long to admit their babies didnt sleep through the night! ME? I shout it from the rooftoops... it explains why I am so scatterbrianed)

with the teething...have you heard of amber teething necklaces? I bought one for DD after her first couple of teeth came through and it has been the best thing, I only wish I'd got it sooner. I've hardly noticed her other teeth coming through, apart from her molars now which seem to be upsetting her at night (gotta love being woken up twice by screaming and then her staying awake from 2am until 4am ). I hate to think how much worse she would be without it!
Just keep thinking "this too shall pass"..I've said it myself more times than I can count!
