    Dee

Can I just say that I remember DS going through the not sleeping much through the day thing. NOTHING helped. I think he was around 10 weeks too.
Theres not really any advice I can give as alot has already been suggested by the other girls but I just wanted to let you know that Tobias is now a good sleeper through the day & has been for months now, so there is light at the end of the tunnel hun.

Cant help you with the night sleeping, I was going to suggest the "getting cold" too. DS sleeps really well in a sleeping bag where as DD couldnt stand the sleeping bags when she was a baby!!!

I hope he gets into a good sleep routine for you soon hun, I really feel for you
    xoxo

    Thanks Danni....

He's in his sleeping bag and then under the doona with me too so I don't think he's cold....

Hmmm....it'll get better ..... now i am off to think of some cruel and unusual punishment for my mother for waking us up at 7am *cackles gleefully*

    Hey Anna, great info there.
Do you mean when you say "I never bothered with the re-settle idea. Once bub can self settle, you will find they will learn to resettle too (meaning when they're awake, just get them up and worry about the next sleep after the next feed etc).", that if they learn how to go off to sleep at the begining by themselves, then that will lead to them sleeping longer? We are using a hammock now and it gets him off to sleep, but I have to jiggle it for 20 mins to get him sleeping into that 2nd cycle.

Hi Salsa, yes that's what I mean. If bub learns to soothe themselves to sleep, when they wake after the first cycle, they find a way to soothe themselves back to sleep.

Because I know bub can self settle, now if she wakes after one cycle I just get her up. I know some people suggest to always aim for 2 cycles...but I find it so tedious to try and resettle...so I don't! DD goes down for at least an hour now and often over 2 hours!!!

If bub is being bounced to sleep, then yes, you might have to bounce him through to the second cycle.

Yes, he always needs to be bounced to continue him into that 2nd cycle but its an improvement. At least he is sleeping longer (a bit) and his over all mood has improved because of it. I just need to get him self settling now, and then he can do it all on his own. Your little one is the same age as mine, so I have hope that he will get there. I just need to keep working on it. Im trying one step at a time.

Anna - thank you! That's so helpful! Reading through that... alot of it is what we've been doing with DD already so thats good to know I'm on the right track to teaching her to self settle.... I think my problem is, I'm not 'consistent' enough!!!!
And I think you are right re: don't bother with trying to resettle them into 2nd cycle because i find after a 30min sleep my DD is up and ready to play and wide eyed and no chance of getting her back to sleep!!!! lol Besides I think my DD is one of those babies that just likes to have 20-30min naps throughout the day rather than 2 long sleeps for example.

La DeeDa - hope today was better for you these babies can turn around so fast.... like today my DD had three day sleeps and each one slept for at least 40mins! some days are good but some days are not-so-good! lol these babies can surprise us huh.

Anna thanks for that info, that's really helpful. I wonder if I've shot myself in the foot by introducing a dummy??

    Hmm...

    Hey Ren...

Bad day here but I think thats because a) mum woke him this morning grrrr!! B) been in and out of the car all day getting ready to move tomorrow.

I ended up driving randomly for 50 mins today because the poor little man kept falling asleep in the car on short trips and then woken again so I just drove so he could have a sleep because he has been FERAL....lol
