Angry How do i stop DD from vomitting?

Everytime regardless of what i do, Chelsea will vomit her bottle all over the carpet, the mat, me, her sheets, her blankets etc....

It has been over 3 hrs since her last feed and she is STILL vomitting all over the carpet. We did try AR formula but she refused to drink it....i try to keep her in her bouncer of sitting on my knee after a feed but she wont stay that way more then 3 minutes. She will not lay on her back.. but will roll no matter what onto her tummy to play.

Is there something im doing wrong or i can try?

Im over my blue mat turning white... im sick of my carpet being puked on...and most of all im sick of changing clothes every hour

She has done this time about 4-5 months old... but now its getting worse... CHN says its fine... just excess milk??? Her whole bottle must be excess milk then...

Could you try giving her smaller volume of bottles but more frequently so she still gets the same amount in a 24 hour period. That way she may not vomit that excess milk.

Kim, my DD spewed all the way from one feed to the next. I had to time her feeds and she could only have 7 mins per side, then sit upright for 10 mins, nappy change - with a pillow under her head, then the same with the other side. If she fed for 8 mins on a side she'd spew the whole feed up! It wasn't until she was about 10.5mths that she stopped.

And would you believe she had a great weight gain the whole way through.

It's just called grin and bear it honey. It's horrible but there's not much you can do.

Can you raise her mattress to about 30degrees when you put her down? I know it's not strictly in accordance with the SIDS guidelines, but it may help.

I also think smaller more frequent feeds may help, but am not sure. I'm speaking from experience as a paediatric nurse, not as a mum, so not sure how much help it will be. I think that the main thing is that she is having good wet nappies a few times a day. You're obviously doing the right thing by getting the CHN to check her and weigh her, and I think that is something you should keep up until you feel comfortable.

Big hugs to you, it must be so hard.

When Matilda was a baby I used the raised mattress & the smaller feeds more frequent theory. I found it worked wonders...

The LC I had suggested thicking Jovie's food using slippery elm. I would put 1/4 a dose (they come in capsules) in 2mls or so of EBM (I'm sure you could use formula) and give that via dropper and then 5 minutes later give her a breastfeed or bottle of EBM. The slippery elm acts as a solifier (is that a word??) and thickens up anything that hits it. You do have to feed less more frequently for it to work as it thickens it all up & makes them feel more full.

Im not sure what AR formula means but my little boy used to do the same when he was a baby and I tried him on thickened formula which helped a little. Then I put him on 2 scoops of soy and 2 scoops of goats formula and he stopped vomiting...maybe she is lactose intolerant?

Jesse use to do the same from birth until about a month ago. We didnt give him AF formula as it wasnt excessive and he was putting on weight fine. As Nessa says, it looks heaps but its really not. We just use to have a huge blanket or old sheet on the floor where he played and just changed his sheets when he did. He's stopped doing it now. Only thing maybe is trying to burp more often as usually the milk or food is just coming up with wind.
