I always just left them be when they started rolling over..
but baby sleep positioners are good too..
Hi Everyone!
My 5.5mth DD is constantly rolling over as she attempts to crawl! Very cute apart from the fact that she tries to do it in her sleep now! I wake up in the night after hearing her roll over and hit the side of the cot! She will happily sleep on her tummy wedged in the side of the cot - but I'm not a fan and roll her back and try and keep her still!
Has anyone else had this problem? How do I keep her still at night? I'm getting up about 4 or 5 times in the night to roll her back over!
HELP!!!
I always just left them be when they started rolling over..
but baby sleep positioners are good too..
sounds like she's comfier finding her own position for sleeping...? at 5.5 months whats wrong with her sleeping on her tum?? our girl same age now always sleeps on her tummy and i think its so cute that she is working out what she likes best. makes me feel horrible all the times i put her on her back and she hated it, but obviously when they are younger you are meant to for sids etc.
each to their own etc but it seems like madness getting up in the night to move her from where she wants to be?
i too would leave her!!
I guess I just worry because I hear the thump when she hits the side of the cot! She rolls off her sheepskin so she gets a bit of speed up by the time she hits the side! I've noticed before (during the day) that when she rolls 3/4 over she gets stuck and then gets upset - think this is also why I get up to turn her over! Might try the sleep positioner and see how we go!
thanks for all the advice!
yeh the thump is what wakes me too.. I guess just move her slightly away from the edge and she might just stay that way for the rest of the night
My baby does the same thing, it's frustrating because she'll sleep on her belly for a while then when she starts to wake up she gets confused and cant roll back over and go to sleep, so i'm finding this really hard...and she's been doing it for weeks now!!
need help too!!!
When DD1 was the same age doing the same thing, I put her in a sleeping bag/Grobag. I was more worried as it was coming into winter and she kept coming out from under her covers. The bag meant that she couldn't get the leverage to roll over for at least a few more weeks (I think). By the time she figured out how to roll in the bag, I figured that she was probably old enough and mature enough to find her most confortable sleeping position, and left her. Plus, the bag was just like a blanket, so she was still warm.
I agree with Kirst11...a gro bag is a great investment
be careful of any product that straps your baby into one position...this does increase the risk of SIDS, and also is really uncomfortable for your baby as they can adjust position (which we naturally do at night)...and your baby will wake to tell you so
they soon learn not to bump their little heads

Sorry Caro...my typing cant keep up with my brain
there are some products out on the baby market that actualy strap a baby into one position...I dont know what they are called, but they kind of look like a straight jacket for babies
Ive never hard of the Just Grab a Sleep positioner...I didnt mean to cause offense

PMSL Caro...ahhh
yep its a velcro band that goes around the babies chest and abdomen, and the bottom section straps around the mattress...awful awful awful
Hi Natty, Claire does this too. Within a few minutes of putting her down in her cot on her back, she rolls onto her tummy or sometimes her side. I leave her as I figure she must be more comfortable that way. She has her face to the side so she isnt being smothered, and she can roll from her tummy to her back on her own. Sometimes I see her in her cot with an arm or leg haanging out between the slats on the side and that is when she gets cranky as she isnt able to roll back, so I roll her bck when she does that.
I reckon if she is happy on her tum and can roll from tum to baack, then she would probably be ok.
I found the grobag worked for a couple of weeks but now we're back to square one.
Arrrggghhh!!
